1Up Bike Racks?

@Slowhands makes sense and don’t mind buying older one. Did you get the handle and hitch lock they now sell to make it easier/more secure?

Edit: I guess I can always buy the handle later if needed.

I have the hitch lock which I don’t have any problems with. I have a heavy duty chain I keep in the trunk I use in combination with it. No experience with the handle, though.

Thanks and appreciate it. Looking at the pricing currently with everything.

1UP on my car too. Absolutely 100%, perfect. Zero issues.

I get this sentiment, but I know these guys personally, If there is an issue, they will make it right. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the new rack. That said I probably never will, since I have one of the ‘originals’ and I expect it to outlast me.

Definitely need to call them tomorrow and get some more details on the two models. I know the equip d is not in stock for a month.

I have one. It’s awesome. I can fit basically any bike on it, I’ve even seen them fitted with a tandem. It’s been on the back of my car for 3 years through NE winters and no sign of issues. The tilt away feature is great for my car. It grabs by the tires so never contacts your nice carbon frame. Best of all it looks so good folded up and out of the way. I would never buy or recommend another rack to anyone, this is just the bees knees

Thanks for the reply. Looks like you have the quick rack single and then the add on correct? Anything else you got with yours?

Mine is the old school single. It has holes in the rack to attach more trays. It’s anodized black and has held up nicely.

Looks like the new one has wider trays for up to 5" tires and a different swing-lock mechanism. Of no use to me but might be important to others

Yeah I saw that after I commented.

Yes true and from what you all say the old model is tested and bomb proof. Also a video I saw the quick rack is closer to your car when in the hitch which is nice.

Sorry for another question but what short u lock do you have?

Seriously, don’t overthink this. Just stop. Buy a 1UP. If you’re disappointed in it, you’ll be the first person in history.

I tend to overthink purchases with items I plan to keep for a long time / life but going to order today. Thanks for all of the help and thread has been very informative.

1Up is also Made In USA

I’ve seen loads of people give 1Up racks rave reviews over the years. The thing that confuses me is # of bikes capacity. I know I’ve seen people rocking three and four trays on they’re setup. But when you look at 1Up’s documentation they don’t support that. So what’s the real deal? Are any of you doing 4-bike 1Up setups? (And I’m not talking crazy heavy fat bikes)
