2023 US Gravel National Championship in Nebraska

Yes, Unbound. Fixed above

How cool would it be if they had some sort of coverage on this event? I would’ve really loved to get some real time updates on the race. BWR seems to do a good job if it so it can be done. Congrats to all that participated.

I don’t know why coverage of this event was so lousy, but it was.

Because, USAC?

Is that it?

Oh great. Now we get to hear how it’s not the spirit of gravel to wear the Stars and Stripes in other gravel races.

On a more serious note, it would be cool to see how Keegan did in the gravel world champs. Not saying he’d be up there with MvdP (nobody in the world is right now) but see how he does against world guys. If nothing else to see how a guy dominating the US scene fairs against world tour guys.

He should absolutely rock the Stars and Stripes at any gravel race he does….

As for Gravel WC, he’d get crushed on that course. It is flat and the gravel is not challenging and the race is short (by US gravel standards). Absolutely nothing about it caters to his strengths.

Slightly OT, but shout out to Frederic Schmid. Dang.

I’m following Fred’s strategy….as long as I can love long enough and keep riding, eventually I’ll earn a Stars and Stripes jersey.

Amazing accomplishment…wow.

Playing the long game — smart!

I think the biggest hurdle to Keegan’s success at any World’s event (including this year’s) would be getting a decent strength team around him and have them all riding for one goal.

If they all show up with their own ambitions they’re hosed

Do you know anything about the course, or are you assuming it’d the same as last year?

Until recently, all indications were that it was the same course….thee have been some reports this week that there are changes to middle sections. I haven’t seen anything official yet, though.

I hope it is changed and it is a tougher course. We’ll see.

ETA - article below details some the changes. Still not a very hilly race, but improvised over last year. The climb at the end would seem to favor a power rider like MVP or Wout vs a more our climber like Keegan.
