A Wild idea for Favero Assioma pedals [MTB SPD Hack]

Thanks for the info. Just to confirm, you have the Giro techlace and didn’t need to modify the shoes for the Assioma hack?

@Shaka999, the Code Techlace, and also older Code with ratchet and Velcro both work without modification in my size anyway (44 and 44.5). Giro has other Techlace models though, and I don’t know about those.

I wonder if that’s it? I’ve seen knock-off of both the SPD cleat and pedals recently (well-go and cyclingdeals - Spd Compatible Pedals) . As an example, I have a pair of double-side Bontragers on my new ride until my Shimano XT pedals come in.

Those look slick. Well done.

Can anyone advise on the Xpedo pedal choice? I can get the CXR for $99 or the M-Force 8 for (Edit $160 not $142). From what i have read there is about a 30 gram weight saving (when mounted with the Assioma’s) with the MF8? Anything else i should consider?

Those are great prices. The 8 worked great for me, and it looks like the CXR is an equally good option so it’s just a matter of whether you want to pay for the weight savings.

Did the swap for XC bike using an uno. I want to say I have about 100miles of pure singletrack on them with one washout landing on the meter side. I can’t say that the body has taken a hit, but I’ve smacked the bottom of the pedal on roots. They read very accurate when I tested them out on my flux, and the power on the trail falls inline where I think it should. I used the CXR pedals and had to cut a little off my old Shimano cleats. Bonus, I’ve only used eggbeaters and the CXRs are way better for me. The swap was as simple as llama’s video.

I used CXRs and needed to apply some threadlock on the spindle attaching nut to keep them in place. Other than that, awesome!

Didn’t have to adjust one pair of MTB shoes, but my 2nd pair required some simple surgery which doesn’t negatively affect them at all.

I’m so wanna do this so I can have power on my gravel bike!!! I’m always torn between using my road pedals or my mtb pedalsI. I might get a favero uno to give it go.

Any deals on the DUOs out there? I know they are tough to find due to Covid as well…

I highly recommend powermeter city. You can get a discount if you sign up for their "club that brings the price under $650. They have been fabulous to deal with over a number of pre sale and post sale correspondences.

I know the just received a batch and are sending them out now. You can email them to see if they can fulfill your order with their inventory if the website hasn’t updated yet.

I have a question for you guys.
I am planing to buy the UNO pair and I have a big question mark.

When you’re unclipping(twist your ankle outside), does the shoe touch the plastic cover of the PM?
If so…I think this is not a very good idea, right ?

Thank you !

No it doesn’t as the cleat pivots around the front, making the shoe move away from the pod.

Guys, can you make a short video of you uncliping?

I would like to use the pedals on my scott spark rc on xco’s and xcm’s races and training.

Thank you !

Just hacked my son’s old Bepro single sided pedals. I didn’t have any crank arm alignment stickers so just placed the jig on and carefully marked the centre line of the crank with pencil.

So, after finally sorting out the correct version of the MForces, I got this all working and have been using for a while now.

The pedals are horrendous in my opinion as far as clipping in/out and overall feel. I am not a super experienced MTB rider, but I had been using Shimano XTR before this, and those were far superior in my opinion. The xpedo, when unclipping, I have to do this in a drastic action, like a spastic kick out or my cleat gets stuck and I cannot clip out. As well, when riding they don’t feel stable. I can feel a sort of up and down wobble, as opposed to just a left and right float (the float is fine). It seems as though they rock a few degrees across the cleat, hard to explain, basically they feel terrible. I tried both the xpedo cleats and spd cleats, better results with spd but not by much.

Anyways, that’s my feedback. I tried adjusting the tension of the pedals release, which is a strange system as well, but that never seemed to help that much. It’s strange, for as hard as they are to get clipped in/out of, they feel like they are gonna unclip the whole time you are actually clipped in.

Just curious how the CXR’s feel as opposed to this? I would fork up more cash to try those instead at this stage, as I don’t think having power (and I’m a numbers junky) is even worth it with the stability issues of the m-force pedals.

It isn’t just you. After decades or Crank Brothers pedals, I found the MForce hard to clip out of. I finally decided that the Crank Brothers do something under rotation do something to lift your cleat out. For the MForce, I have to rotate and lift. I’ll eventually get used to it, but I don’t love it.

Power Meter Pedals: Favero Assioma // Xpedo SPD Hack // Gravel Power!

If you follow this video very easy to do already.

…Just to bring a few relevant quotes together.

Anyone has info on whether the thrust Nxl would work on favero? They seem exactly the same form and size as the favero’s and for 79usd you would be getting both bodies and a set of bearings.
