Alternatives to Tour de France on Peacock in USA

With all due respect you are not correct. The other forum member is saying that nbc has additional, specific content that they create. That is 100% correct. It is not shown on other feeds. I have no axe to grind, but pointing out for accuracy as others consider their viewing options.

The commercials on this Peacock feed are rank. The vrbo commercials are flat out disgusting. Just when you get into the vibe of the day’s stage you are barraged with disturbing imagery. I miss the international commercial free coverage.

Which I never said the didn’t, in fact specifically said they do. Most of the random footage of stuff off the race course though is just in the feed and the commentators have to react to it as it happens on all the broadcasts since it is part of the feed. This happens in nearly every sport and/or form of racing, random camera guy is filming a duck because its fun and doesn’t realize the feed cut to his camera whether on purpose or meant to switch to another.

Thanks! I am going to look into this.

Wasted a few hours trying vpns with SBS and the feed and mirroring being so terribly buggy, then seeing flo is $50 CAD, and not getting an EU feed to work I guess I am resigned to nbc. Taking out commercials will help a ton.

I do find the nbc so curious in terms of why they make the choices they do. Other than Steve P, who I like a lot, I have no idea why they dress up the 3 dudes in super outdated, stiff, suits and ties. Who in America wants this!!?? Those guys are already so stiff and unnatural and the suits make it worse. At least lose the fat ties! I’ve also never found tjvg (especially) or BB particularly entertaining when they were competing. Their commentary and delivery is so terrible and it makes me think their time in the peloton robbed them of any personality or ability to relate outside of the pro tour bubble.

Yes! I put in a complaint about the spoilers on the Peacock Apple TV app yesterday and while I had their attention I added that I was tired of seeing VRBO dude while I’m trying to watch the race.

Not with the Flo Fire TV app. Learned that the hard way. It forces itself to live picture no matter how far back you go.

I’m still getting some ads for NBC specific things - Olympics, tv shows, and VRBO and the Feed, but I can fast forward through them if I’ve built some lead time. I was multi tasking today, so I’m not completely sure about that. I took a look at the reply from yesterday and it looked like I didn’t have any ads, but I didn’t do rigorous testing. If you really want to know before you spend the money, check in tomorrow.

Short on time today, tried YouTube option - Eurosport and FloBikes. Pretty good :+1:

Is the Flo Canada the same as Eurosport?

I don’t think so. It’s the world feed whereas I think Eurosport is Sean Kelly, Rob Hatch, etc.

I’d really like to find a way in the US to get the Eurosport feed, but can’t figure it out

No, it is the ASO International feed. Announcers are Ant McCrossen and Nicolas Roche.

Thanks, anything is better than the Peacock stream. I can’t take it anymore.

I find Ant and Nico to be a little dry (especially compared to the Eurosport crew), but they are 10,000x better than Crazy Uncle Phil and the 2 Stooges.

So how can a US person get the Eurosport feed?

Requirement 1 is to use a VPN to look like you’re in the UK.
Is requirement 2 to just have any Discovery+ account or does it have to be a UK account?

Based on the “GCN+ Is Closing” thread, you’ll need a UK credit card / UK Paypal account…which is challenging, if not impossible, to do from here.

Someone did a workaround on it, IIRC< but it seemed like WAY more hassle than it was worth.

I am in the US and watching UK Discovery+. It is indeed a huge PIA to setup. But I took it personally and just decided that I would make it work damnit! Bottom line:

  • I have a friend in the UK. She pays for my Discovery+ subscription. I send her some money monthly.
  • I had to setup a dedicated Apple device, with a new Apple ID setup to use the UK Apple Store. Yes, I did justify to myself that I needed a new Ipad anyway .
  • I spent hours before I could get all this to work.

I salute you my friend. But, why a new dedicated apple device? I thot all is good if you have a VPN connex, no?

It worked with just the VPN until about 2 months ago. The feed worked through a web browser via VPN. But the Discovedry+ IT team is strong. They have now blocked the web feed and the only way to watch is on the Discovery+ app.
I tried downloading the app from the US store and then launch VPN before running the app but that did not work. AIt only works with the Discovery+ app downloaded from the UK app store.

If you look at the app store limitations from Apple, it’s not something that you can easily switch back and forth. So I decided to dedicate a specific Apple device with a new Apple ID, accessing only the UK store.

The Apple TV supports multiple user accounts (Apple IDs) and quick switching between them. I think you could just do it that way. I doubt they require the accounts that you switch between to be allocated to the same country. You might want to try it, it is easy to remove the second account in the Apple TV if it doesn’t work.

i can’t believe I’m actually considering signing up for flobikes again but I have trouble stomaching watching bike racing with miles displayed on screen. Plus I’ve had a VPN since and because of the GCN+ days which worked splendidly last year so looking like I’m in Montreal ain’t a problem.

So questions for those who use flobikes in canada(or the VPN/canada method):
Is the feed commercial free? That was their downfall for me before as I’d be watching a race and a randomly timed woop commercial would interrupt which for $150 a year I thought a bit egregious. Outside of TDF coverage is this something they still do?
Second is what other races are through this service and is it similar/good coverage?
