I applaud them for this… seems like all of us had the same experience. I just can’t see myself going back to Wahoo with these kinds of quality control issues on $1000+ smart trainers. Tacx or PowerTap for me in the future.
Yea, keep riding it. It will get loud…guaranteed
I was hoping for as much but I’ve now done several rides since and it’s yet to get ‘loud’ again.
I just purchased a Wahoo Kickr 2018 this week. Wish me luck!
I think i have read every single comment on every forum regarding the Kickr issues. That is the reason I got the Kickr from a local shop instead of some web shop. Makes it easier to handle the warranty issues, if needed.
The price was very good, 33% discount from the list price shown on the Wahoo product page.
I did, and then it needed to be replaced because out of nowhere it developed a crazy loud knocking sound. They swapped it out and now I have a new one without an issue. But it’s only been a week that I’ve had it…
I’m in the same boat. Mine worked for four months, then needed replacement. 2nd version is two weeks in with no issues yet…
Experiencing a new issue with my Kickr18… Watts are reading extremely low (e.g 0-30 watts) or roughly 20% of my pedals. In the past both PMs have measured quite close but this is obviously a huge difference.
I’ve tried unlupping/rebooting, calibrating via head unit and wahoo app but no luck. When I try calibrating through wahoo app the trainer reads 2-5 mph even though I’m clearly going pressing down on the pedals much hard.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have a suggestion (other than getting a new trainer/brand)?
I bought mine on October, 2018. It worked quite well for almost 6 months and around 4000 miles until it started developing a squeaky noise. This was fixed with replacement key from Wahoo. Unfortunately, this month bearings gave out. Wahoo agreed to replace the unit. Looking at others experience here, I have had a good run of almost 10 months with the same trainer. I can only hope that the new unit works fine.
PS Customer support has been very good
@MAGNUStm I think it might be time to cut slingload with Wahoo. I have nothing to add to your situation, other than to say, after multiple failed Wahoo Kickr units, I went to Cycleops H2. I’ve ridden the hell out of it, and it keeps on tickin’! Are there better units out there? Sure! I can tell you, I’ve yet to have an issue with my H2. Caveat, I did have a problem with my first H2, but this was clearly a returned item, and for good reason. REI did me well, and I received a brand new unit. Wahoo can kick rocks
Wahoo clearly has not sorted their quality issues and lack of quality control (despite stated otherwise). I am waiting to get my 3rd Kickr Core, first one bought 2 weeks ago, it was bad out of the box (grinding noise) the 2nd lasted a week (clicking noise and vibrations). Both were supposedly from the newer batches confirmed by wahoo to be issue free. I think the design is faulty. Already requested to get a refund from the shop If the 3rd one fails.
My Core started to make this weird noise after 10/15 min of warmup… I’m probably pushing around 230 wats but even it if less or more, I get the same noise. Is this a bad sign?
@gguerini it’s time to open a ticket and ship her back. Sorry to say, but another one bites the dust
Yup, that’s now a Klikr… and ready for replacement.
I’ve had a Kickr '18 since Aug '18 with no issues or problems to date, used about 3x per week doing TR workouts with some gaps for outdoor riding. But, please, don’t get me started on my Garmin Vector 3 pedals from about the same time.
I have the Kickr CORE and love it. No issues. Had it since January.
I am curious how the Zwift acquisition will impact quality. I have had button covers come a little loose on my head unit, and a plastic cover on my HR strap popped off.
Had the Garmin Vector 3, then Favero Assioma Duo, then Stages L/R and finally Quarq Dzero. No issues with Quarq, single watch battery, just works. Left and Right spyder crank, I have had one time where it didn’t come up immediately, updated firmware, no issues since. On top of the single battery that last a long time, I can use any pedal I want.
have the bugs been ironed out for the Core yet? I really want to talk myself into one, but I can’t justify buying headaches.
I was hoping buying directly from Wahoo fitness, instead of REI might elevate some issues?
Some feedback from Ray, in a related discussion.
Thanks for this! Just got a KICKR Core which will compliment TR great for the 6 month Minnesota winters
