I have some for backup wheels. They’re fine. Definitely not a premium wheel. It is kind of cool that they will set them up tubeless for you so the wheels are ready to roll out of the box.
I noticed that a few days ago. It does strike me that the design, which essentially is a hollow construction of the rim, would inherently be more susceptible to impacts. Probably/maybe/possibly structurally stronger/more stiff, but it seems the outer rim wall itself would be thinner relative to a conventionally constructed rim. Otherwise it would just be twice as heavy as a similar rim…
That said - I just got a set of Hunt gravel wheels for cyclocross. I’ve just done a couple test rides on them, first race on the set will be sunday. If I don’t post about them next week, you can probably assume they exploded and I’m in the hospital.
In all seriousness though…they seem like very nice wheels for the money.
Oh maybe I should’ve been clearer haha, I don’t own Hunt wheels myself.
I came across the article and I knew there was a topic on the forum regarding Hunt wheels
Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re all well. I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for their open and honest feedback both positive and constructive. We are all riders here (hence the company name HUNT | TheRiderFirm) and it hurts us when we hear from riders that we do sometimes don’t quite get things right. We always need to be better and we will, correctly, be judged by the experiences you have with the best companies in all sectors in terms of customer service/product. So any case where a person experiences something they would have preferred not to experience, especially if you have gone away unhappy with us at the conclusion, means we have something to learn from. The example of the tyres, time and cost is exactly something we need to learn from. So after, reading every post and thanking you all for your great feedback, I will share your feedback with everyone here at HUNT and please be assured we will all be using your hugely valuable feedback to strengthen how we serve you.
I’m also very certain that riders who choose HUNT do in the vast majority of cases get a very strong level of product and service compared to many other companies in the bike industry, this can be attested to in our Trustpilot reviews page. Please note we cannot edit/filter these in any way and since we started with Trustpilot customers are invited automatically by the Trustpilot system to review us as we wanted to get as much feedback as possible Hunt Bike Wheels Reviews | Read Customer Service Reviews of www.huntbikewheels.com.
Having worked in several bike industry companies I am confident we have an incredible team of people here with a great attitude that are working very hard, as you can imagine going against the big guys as a small self-funded family business is a challenge but one we enjoy. Whilst the good experiences several of you mentioned are great to hear about to keep us motivated, the not-so-good experiences some of you have shared are all real and hugely important to us to look at how to make our customer service and our product even better.
We want to serve riders with the best wheels and renowned service so thank you again for providing information that helps us improve even further.
Enjoy Your riding, Tom Marchment HUNT Wheels Co-Founder.
Personally, I think the fact you’ve responded on this forum speaks volumes. We can’t always get things 100% right, 100% of the time. If you’re willing to take the feedback constructively and tweak what needs to be tweaked, I can see a bright future.
As the owner of a set of HUNT wheels, my experience was positive from start to finish. Just need to keep pushing on TR and do the wheels justice come race season.
Good luck moving forward
I’m a Hunt fan. I rode the 4Seasons Gravel this year and am looking forward to buying a set for my wife and maybe an upgrade for me for next season.
Not throwing TR in the mix, as we all know their customer service is pretty awesome, dealing with HUNT was the best customer service experience I have had in quite some time.
Big thanks guys, really appreciated. Have a great evening.
Hey all,
Have any of you US based Hunt owners had to pay import duty/tax fees after buying your wheels?
Just bought a set of Hunt 30 Carbon Gravel disc wheels and received an email today saying I payed $100.90 on import duties for the wheels.
It’s awesome that Hunt offer free worldwide shipping, but I was unaware I would need to pay an additional $100 in import duties.
Overall, I’m HYPED for the wheels (I have to wait till Christmas to use them!), but am slightly annoyed at the import cost.
can i ask how much the wheels came out to before the import duties? i read somewhere that if you’re paying over a certain amount (i think $800) you don’t have to pay import duties.
however, this was from Wiggle so i’m not sure what the actual price is from the US Customs standpoint.
The Hunt website does warn of import taxes.

The way US Customs charges work is the other way around - you don’t have to pay if the total is under $800. The Hunt link in the comment below yours states this too.
Hi all, my name is Ken and I’m Hunt’s North American Brand Manager. Firstly, I want to thank you all for your excellent feedback and support with our small but growing team. As a young company, we have a goal of serving all riders to the best of our ability and grateful for your help and feedback on how to serve you even better.
Regarding the comments on import duties/fees, I want to share that this has sparked a company-wide conversation on our communication to our US customers. We recognize that we can provide even more information than our current shipping page about this area for goods with a value of $800 or more. We’re working hard to find ways to make this as easy as possible no matter the country you’re in. We are looking into solutions such as having dispatch from the USA or prepaying duties for our US riders. Again, I can’t thank you enough for the feedback and want to assure you that we are always working hard to serve you better every day. Happy riding!
Hello Ken,
Thank you for your implications with the customers. I wanted to know, are there any news with the 48 limitless recall ? I am pretty interested in these wheels so I hope the issues will be fixed soon.
Thank you !
Hi, thanks for reaching out & the interest. The updates to the 48 LADs are going well, we’re all stoked to get them out into the wild! Our engineering team has been working tirelessly to update the rim’s internals with a new layup to ensure that they’re ready for even very large pothole strikes & paths less traveled. We’re on track for having the updated rims in stock by the end of January and the updated rims to our existing customer before then.
These are great news, thank you !
I put down a deposit on carbon wheels and changed my mind prior to dispatch. Up to this time Hunt was very receptive with my questions. When i asked for a refund haven’t heard a word from them.
I have about 2000kms into a set of gravel 4 season disc wheels, no issues so far. They do pack in some extra spokes and I’m hoping the sealed bearings are easy enough to change out.
I rode a set of stock giant wheels with formula hubs into the ground after about 20,000kms, the seals on the cups and cones weren’t keeping water out(I live in Vancouver, a lot of rain) and a set of Alex rims that had sealed bearings that I found out at about 7,000kms couldn’t be replaced, so I’m hoping for better serviceability and longevity out of these wheels which feature cartridge bearings.
Freehub has antibite guard, I’m looking forward to being able to slide off a cassette at some point vs a knotched aluminum freehub.
These were the cheapest Hunt wheels available, I use them for commuting. Points of engagement are pretty sufficient.
Happy.
I haven’t used their wheels, but seeing this thread interested me enough to have a look. A bit put off by overzealous tracking and analytics though… marketing and advertising overdrive.
Par for the course on the Internet these days. Absolutely nothing to do with their product.
I have had a pair of those exact wheels for 3ish months now and they have been trouble free. Relativeley lightweight, have stayed true, and I would absolutely purchase another set. I put them on a gravel build in 650b but do as much if not more asphalt riding than gravel. 600-700ish miles on them (asphalt/ gravel mix) so not a ton but so far so good.
