Anyone using a Whoop?

I thought that was it too, but the only devices I have paired it up to are TR on my iPad and Zwift on Apple TV. For the 2nd file Zwift actually couldn’t find the Whoop during pairing. Turned out TR was still open on my iPad from a ride the day before and was pairing to it. I closed out of the TR completely and than Zwift was able to find it so it wasn’t TR fighting for it and that’s the only other app I’ve ever paired it with.

I used it today on an outside ride and paired it up to my Garmin. Data looks just fine there. Combine that with the fact it looks fine when I do TR workouts and I guess it’s just a Zwift/Apple TV thing.

I find the whoop broadcast cuts out all the time. I suspect it’s fighting with the whoop app on the phone.

I’m thinking that may be the case as well. it’s not a big deal as I’m used to using my Wahoo Tickr Fit for everything already. Would have been nice to use the Whoop as my single source HRM though.

The grams we carry for data….

FINALLY received my 4.0 and…its DOA? I can’t get any of the leds on this thing to flash, let alone get it to pair with the app. (Yes I charged it)

Anyone else have any issues like this?

When i received mine last week. Both the internal battery aswell as the charging battery were completely empty. So had to charge the charging battery first, then the Whoop itself.

Same for me (both flat, took a while to get them charged)

Should I see anything when attaching the battery pack to the strap? I charged the battery pack up full, and when I attach it to the strap I get no signal that its charging? I can double tap the battery pack while on the strap and it will blink red at me, but so signs of life from the strap…

Sorry for all the questions, but you guys are way faster than whoop support so far

When the battery is on the whoop, double tapping the battery gives you the battery level of the whoop … so in your instance, it’s not charged (red)

If you tap it and its red, that means that the battery back is empty.

edit: to late :stuck_out_tongue:

How long did you wait for your order? Were you able to get it going?

I’ve put my 3.0 back on after a couple of months off. Had a 4.0, it didn’t work, sent it in for a replacement and the replacement never came, got annoyed an canceled.

After a couple of months off and some other options, Apple Watch, Garmin. I think Whoop might actually be the best fit for my life and preferences so will probably go back and now kind of kicking myself for not waiting for the 4.0 replacement.

I ordered it in mid-September and just got it yesterday.

I re-charged the battery pack overnight and now have that charging the strap during the day while I’m at work. So I’ll see if it works, or if I got a dud in a few hours I guess.

I like the idea of the Whoop over those other devices because I wear traditional watches a lot and can do so while keeping the whoop on which is a big benefit over the apple watch/garmin etc… for me

Yep, same here. I really liked the Garmin watch and Body Battery but wasn’t much a fan of the 530, really prefer my Wahoo Roam for various reasons.

My 3.0 works perfectly fine so will likely just hang on to it for a couple of months and keep an eye on 4.0 news.

Hope yours keeps working.

I have had my Whoop 4 for a couple of days now. The heart rate monitoring is still garbage. It spikes all over the place for no reason. I went on a very easy mountain bike ride yesterday with my son and my Garmin Edge 530 with Garmin HRM-Pro strap had my heart rate at an average of 104 and max 144. Whoop had my heart rate for the ride at an average of 135 and max 162.

Not sure how DC Rainmaker got the results he did where he stated the heart rate tracking improved from version 3. It is still garbage in and garbage out as far as I can tell.

My experience with 4.0 is basically the same as DCrainmaker. HR is much more accurate than 3.0. Here is a recent workout with a Polar H10 chest strap vs. Whoop 4.0.

The chest strap is better, but I think the Whoop 4.0 is close enough for strain/recovery purposes. I also have not see weird spikes from things like dishwashing.

Got mine now a few week but the HR is kinda hit or miss. So can’t rely on that.

With that in mind, if the HR info isn’t accurate, the strain information isn’t accurate as well and doesn’t that diminish/invalidate the whole recovery score ?

Not sure if I’m keeping it after the 6 months period.

I have lots of posts saying the same thing. Don’t forget “if the sleep info isn’t accurate” too.

While I’m thinking about it, have they added the ability to take a nap? When I had mine, naps didn’t count as sleep, which was surprising considering how many athletes they pay to wear the device.

They do for me, they come off the next nights required sleep (if done close to waking up, e.g didn’t feel good on sunday, so was up for a couple of hours then went back to bed, it was added to that nights sleep)

Yeah this was one of @dcrainmaker 's criticisms - it just nets the nap time off the next night sleep requirement. Which isn’t really realistic - I don’t think it makes sense to replace 1:1 like that.

I’m kinda interested in one but not if the HR tracking is still rubbish. On which I am seeing mixed reports!

Naps are tracked. They can be started manually as one of two ‘sleep’ options. I don’t nap so can’t say anything beyond that.

The optimal strain range is wide, so minor inaccuracy of HR should not have a major impact. With 3.0, Whoop HR and true HR could get severely out of sync. If it’s 125 vs 130 avg with same peak as per my graphs above, I think that’s sufficient for strain/recovery balance since both sides of that equation are a wide range vs a specific number. I have also recorded HR during sleep and find it consistent with Whoop there.
