Hey all,
Just wanted to give a quick thanks to Coach Jonathan for the custom power zones tip. Not sure if it was this podcast, but it was helpful in analyzing my recent outdoor workouts.
Surprise, surprise, in my SS workout, I spent between 50-65% in the zone. The rest was spent mostly a little above zone and some a little below zone…
Thanks, again!

This. Similar experience when I did my first century which was a large charity ride. 1800 feet of climbing which was mostly one large bridge at the start and two or three smaller overpasses. The rest was flat(ish). I did not realize how much harder it was to ride steady for that long and how much the coasting breaks in my hilly normal routes helped me. Oh, and how much less in shape I am then I thought I was!
I am on the heavy side for riding so climbs are hard (let’s be honest, they are hard for everyone) but the descents are wonderful. That was two years ago (i’m one of those ‘covid cyclists’) and now I focus on steady spin on the trainer.
