Australian Summer 20/21 - What are your goals? Motivators? Achievements?

I received an email back from the organisers. They are pushing ahead with plans for the 2021 race.

Thatā€™s my plan tomorrow for the Grand Final day public holiday! Falls just within the allowed zone for me now. Hopefully beat the rain tomorrow! Looks like shocking weather on Friday afternoon and all of Saturday looks like a write off too.

Have the dates for the Grand Fondo been set yet?

I signed up for the Croc Trophy! Only paid the deposit so far, so Iā€™ll have to make a bigger decision next August when I have to pay the rest.

Nice one!
Iā€™m really hoping things are normal enough by October 2021 to get some decent numbers showing up.

https://www.visitvictoria.com/regions/Goldfields/Events/Sports/Cycling/Federation-University-Road-Race-National-Championship---Ballarat# suggests 10 Jan 2021. Although there is nothing on the roadnats website itself yet.

Thatā€™s excellent. Maybe Iā€™ll pay the deposit and cross fingers for next year.

Iā€™ll check in and see who else is going as time goes on. Iā€™m meant to be doing it with a mate who lives in Hobart and will most likely be driving up from Brisbane myself.

Itā€™s going to be a good motivator to get serious about my training over the next 12 months.

I have entered the Alpine Classic (250km) to give me some motivation to train. I have set up a plan on plan builder, which looks pretty good. Doesnā€™t matter about the rain forecast for the weekend, I can still train indoors

My mtb race licence expired through Covid times, and i havenā€™t raced on the road for a few seasons, so im (not so) patiently waiting on November 1 to get a new AusCycling licence to cover both, and get back into some racing.
Plenty of local options (road racing 1 per week; MTB 1 per month) so iā€™m spoilt for choice.
Currently in a Low volume plan with extra rides added in for approx. 8 hour training weeks. seeing good returns on my training taking this approach.
Hoping to get back to previous levels at racing. targeting a couple of podiums in local B grade (Cat 3 maybe?)

Yeah mate, Iā€™m in Radelaide. Great place to be for riding.
I too suffer from trying to get other people signed up to TR. I show them how easy group workouts are and they persist with that cartoon game, using another app on their phones and then using dischord for chat etc. Then everyone complains when they get dropped etc or use a rubberband to stay togetherā€¦seems silly to me.
Would be nice to know and catch up with others locally that use TR. Perhaps we can hook up a TR Adelaide group ride or workout?

It seems quite difficult to get people to see the benefits of structured training down here. The TR side of things often gets scoffed at. That is until you are at the front of the bunch pulling the crew at 280-300w for 45minutes to the cafe and then everyone asks, 'What the hell have you been doing?!"

Yeah, Iā€™m pretty stoked about the new AusCycling setup. I havenā€™t raced for a few years now but Iā€™ll definitely take out a license next year (helps that Iā€™ve been training hard all winter and want to test out my new legs). As a bonus the vets cycling club near me has just voted to join AusCycling as well, so Iā€™ve now got 3 road clubs and 2 MTB clubs within range which I can race at with 1 license instead of 3 licenses.

Which part of the country are you in?

How good is it to be back outside amongst better weather and daylight savings?! :raised_hands:t3:
