Bottom Bracket installation - thread lock & grease?

I’m pretty sure I just did this last week on my cross bike!

BB came with a handful of threads coated with the dry threadlock. Just greased up the frame threads and jammed it in there. Seems good to go :+1:

There is no point in using both items. Thread lock dries and binds. Adding a lubricant to it is as useless as trying to spray paint a spoonful of Crisco.

Sorry - forgot to update here.
So I had to get some parts from my LBS and asked the mechanics.
They advised the same as the FSA instructions, apply grease to the BB shell and install the bearing with the thread lock as is.

Worked so far, have done two outside rides and about 10 indoor rides of varying intensity on the bike and all seems as it should.

Threadlocker isn’t needed on a typical flanged BB cup, i.e. they should never come loose in operation.

That said, factory-applied, dry “threadlocker” idiot-proofs the cups such that they can’t be installed without some sort of corrosion inhibitor. I used quotes around “threadlocker” because the stuff they use generally has very weak holding properties, which I’d imagine is intentional.

Can you grease the cups that have preinstalled threadlocker? Sure you can, because the purpose of the factory applied threadlocker has nothing to do with locking the threads anyway.
