Related but unrelated… Please implement some kind of push of upcoming workouts to Training Peaks for planning purposes? I appreciate that you may want to limit the information transmitted for IP reasons, but can’t we have basic information such as:
Name, Time, Type, TSS, IF, Description?
Until the TR calendar functionality AND multisport support is up to scratch and competitive with TP, I spend quite a bit of time (10-30mins) each week manually writing in my workouts to TP, which is pretty frustrating.
I don’t really find this helpful. If I create an annotation and it asks me for a color, I have no idea if “orange” is already being used for something else or not. If there was a legend that says “orange = sickness” that would be helpful.
That was certainly true at one point and they even removed them for a period of time. Particularly those called out precise workouts that were parts of the plans Pre-AT, and were erroneous for the dynamic nature of the AT world.
But they seem to have been reworked them to a more generic direction that doesn’t reference specific workouts other than the SS Sunday swap option. At current state, the tips are a decent reference again and can be reviewed as people see fit.
I’m not saying the current system is good. But they added at least some level of control that was not present prior to that. It was also done with little more than the release notes and a few forum posts, so I figured I’d mention that something is there at present.
The annotations and color are one area I see LOTS of room for improvement and is why I have mentioned multiple aspects of them, including color.
Relatively simple, but lifting should be a distinct activity type that we can input into the calendar, rather than having to use “other”. To take it a step further I’d love to be able to input volume for legs vs upper body/core/other. Would be really nice to see a week’s worth of work and have it nicely split in time between ride/run/swim/lifts.
Happy to help. We see more than a few suggestions for features where some form of solution exists that a user had not seen or found yet. Sometimes it’s the right and complete solution, many others it’s at least a small step in a good direction even it it’s not the ideal.
I don’t use the calendar much on my iPhone but if mobile includes my iPad then that would be an issue for me. I use my iPad not only to run the app but view the website through the browser.
It would be less of an issue if I had a full grid view of the calendar and full functionality of the calendar within the TR iPad app.
As for other things I would like. Copy and paste of annotations as well as search capability for annotations and notes from workouts.
Pardon the MS Paint but it would be cool to link the calendar to your zip code weather and show something like this for when you choose outdoor workouts:
Maybe color code workouts based upon Difficulty. Or at least the bar that is “added” to the workout that shows the Difficulty. So in the below example, the “bar” where it shows “Stretch” would be colored the “yellow” stretch color so this is more prominent.
Not sure if this is something we can add to the Calendar but one thing I would love to see is future “Fitness/CTL” , “Fatigue/ATL” and “Form/TSB” for each future day of the plan. This allows one to compare what your expected TSB will be at the end of the recovery and on race day.
Furthermore, if you can implement a “trial” calendar where one can play around with different training plans to see what they look like in the calendar and how your fitness changes before actually accepting it into the official calendar… that would be awesome.
Finally, if you can use the training plans, my age, my gender etc to predict my likely FTP at the end of the training plan…
Those would be step changes to how we use calendar to plan our training.
Again, I might be showing functions that are already known, but a form of this exists on the Career web page at the moment. Scroll to the bottom to see a day-based countdown to events along with the name and priority, with nearest at top:
For whatever reason, this info is lacking from the PC & Android apps. It shows another inconsistency between interfaces that should be reconciled and matched IMO.
I don’t know if this belongs on the Calendar page as well, or if a consistent access from the Career page is sufficient? Perhaps there should at least be some indication of the very next event on the Calendar, with a hyperlink that opens to show a longer list like the current Career web view?
Here is a super basic hack showing placement by the plan info near the top. Could also be a hyperlink that jumps to that specific event, or maybe loads the larger event list:
Another suggestion: Combine the Plan name and week number (e.g., Short Power Build - Week 1) into a single line and spread it across the entire week like the annotation I added in this screenshot. This would both shrink the showing two items in the first week, but also in the “out weeks” a reminder instead of just “Week 2”, “Week 3”, etc.
I’d like to see the Achievable, Productive, etc marking prevalent on all workouts, not just those in the past. I like to look ahead and see what’s coming without having to open each workout.
Also, I’d like to see a similar color coding and display of survey responses to past workouts. It would be great to be able to look back and see trends of responses. Eg if I look back and see that my Wednesday workouts tend to be rated harder than others (easy to do with a color stripe that’s always visible), I can look into what might be the cause, and adjust either the placement of the workouts, or other causes.
