I have a few pairs of Roka glasses, if you can’t be fast look fast, that I like. The lens quality is good. I wear the Matadors on gravel and the SX on dirt. I like the HC lens depending on brightness which one I wear. 40% off sale isn’t bad either.
I’ve been eyeing Rokas for a while. I might pull the trigger this year for some with prescription
I really like the Roka CP. Good lens quality, as others have said. But different glasses fit different faces, so go with what fits you. They only came with one lens when I got them a couple of years ago.
My matadors only came with one pair of lenses. I bought a second pair for low-light days. I also have a clear pair for my Oakleys.
How do you like the
Matadors?
I like them. They are really light and look good. They seem easier to change lenses than my flight jackets.
I am really liking the two without the top frame, GP-1X and SL-1X. The custom GP in all white looks great with a white helmet too. The Matador looks interesting, I’ve got some time to earn that $30 off coupon coming up so can decide. I’m also liking the HC fusion mirror lens for all around riding conditions, though the spare clear lens is $60 which is kinda crazy
Anyone have the GP or SL?
I have a pair of the GP series. They are my go to for most rides.
I am using jawbreakers but they don’t mesh well with my new Ballista helmet, the ends dig into my head. So I was going to try the matador so If they work better
The only thing holding me back from Roka is the single lens, and the fact they want $60 for a clear one. 100% comes with a clear lens but the Hypercraft looks like it would be huge, though the Racecraft looks decent too. I DO like Roka custom options. Oakley Flight Jacket isn’t really wowing me.
Really liking frameless or at the very least open top variants.
Just recently, I went with 100% S2, they just seem to fit my face better than most other ones I’ve tried on. The fact that they come with the clear lenses is a big bonus for me. Quality seems on par with all the other high end brands.
I got my 75$ AGU glasses from the mysterious retailer Bikeinn about two weeks after ordering. I’ve been on one ride with them and they were perfect for 3 hours or so. Didn’t even notice them on my face.
I use Knockaround sunglasses. Cheap and thus far have worked well. I did get one with yellow lenses that seems to distort the view a bit. It takes a few minutes to get used to each time I wear them so I don’t use them very often, however the darker lenses don’t ever give me those issues. I keep pairs around for running/cycling/heading to the pool. They have all held up, but in the inevitable event I sit on, scratch or lose them, it’s not a big deal.
Roka’s for gravel (I use their transition lenses because going in an out of foliage requires it)
Oakley Sutra’s for road (cough) style points.
My go-to gravel glasses for the last year or two have been 100% S3. I like the coverage they provide. They don’t fog up much at all and they do pretty well with sweat and that’s saying something. I sweat pretty heavy.
Lot of recs for Oakley on here… I have 2 sets of sutro. As far as wind protection goes, it’s about all I can use. I’ve tried so many and they don’t block wind well enough for my face shape and contacts dry out within the first 10 minutes of a ride.
As far as oakleys for sunglasses, I think the sutros with prism lenses are pretty crap. I changed one set out for an aftermarket polarized lense and it’s decent now. I think Revant lenses? I find the stock lenses fine for overcast days but useless in the bright sun
Just picked up some Roka Barton in rx, been too cold to really give ‘em a whirl but interested to see how it does in a rx lense that’s not wrap around
Have you tried the Prism Jade lenses? I live in Houston, wear contacts, and have sun sensitive eyes, and they are fantastic.
Those are the green-ish ones? Yes of the 2 I have, those are better for sure. Replaced the red tinted ones in another pair
Oakely just came out with photochromatic lens for the Sutro’s. I picked up a pair. Epic for cloudy days or rides where you’re going in and out of shady areas. Game changes on fast descents where you may miss debris from light change
Oakely PC lenses seem to work really well and change really quickly. I have a set of Roka PC lenses that for the longest time, I thought they just sent me the clear version. They seem to need perfect direct sunlight to darken
Ill have to check these out!
