In the US, pancakes are thick and covered in syrup. Very high calorie and very low satiation.

I always over-ordered pancakes when I was in the US. Usually here they’re smaller crepe-type things with a bit of lemon juice and sugar. I’d look at a menu and think “a pancake? a single pancake?”… Then it would come out bigger than the damn plate.
