Just what everyone else said. I ordered one for my buddy as I already have one and it rocks.
I too have one, really like it and ordered another for my wife with this price. Itās still cold here in MN, so serious outdoor riding for me personally i probably a month out.
I wonder (as I have seen others postulate) if this implies a new version coming this season? An upgrade with longer battery or brighter light means little to me, but I would love to see a solid varia light with added Fly6-like function built in (rear camera).
Thanks, bought one as well. If my purchase experience holds, a far superior one is incomingā¦
How is the battery life on those Varias?
I believe itās between 9-15hrs based on what mode the light is on. So really good.
I wanted to buy a taillight anyways so might have to grab a varia it looks like.
If youāre looking for a smart trainer, nowās definitely the time to buy. REI has a random 20% off sale now for basically everything smart trainer wise, heck, even the Saris MP1 is on it. KICKR/CORE, NEO 2T, Elite Direto X, and so on.
Iāve checked through and compiled a full list in the usual spot here: Sports Tech Current Deals & Sales
Note, in general REI doesnāt tend to re-stock trainers mid-sale. So, Iād jump now rather than waiting a week or so.
Package deal with a donation thrown in:
Not sure Iād call the REI 20% off sale random. They have offered a 20% off coupon during dividend season (late-March/early-April) every year for at over a decade.
They also do a 20% off coupon mid-May and mid-November every year. The nice thing is that other online outdoor retailers have been following suite. So backcountry.com and moosejaw.com will both offer a 20% one item coupon the same time REI does
The timing is actually random - itās too early by about two months. They have two sales per yeAr, the dividend one which is typically first week of May or so, and then one the first two weeks of November.
The reason they have two sales specifically (and not 3 or 4 or whatever), is thatās the allowance on most of their MAP restrictions with most manufacturers.
Iām doing some digging with folks since posting, REI decided to essentially move up their May dividend sale to now. Makes biz sense on numerous fronts.
I received the normal REI catalog in the mail last week saying they were having a 20% off sale. Not the annual one but this one regardless. Been a member for 25+ years now I grew up in Seattle area where it was founded.
Just as a heads up, since things have expanded - thereās more trainers now. Clever Training has matched the 20% off sale, but since CT carries more trainers than REI, it steps it up a bit. Added to the list above are:
- Tacx NEO 2T actually in stock (REI had it backorded)
- Elite Suito
- 4iiii Fliiiight
- Saris TD1 trainer desk
- Power meters from Stages
- REI also has Vector 3 now
- Elite Sterzo steering thingy
In any case, Iāve added those to the list, and am digging through to see what other nuggets are worthwhile. All here: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/deals
Appreciate the updates.
I wouldnāt call the sales random at all. My email is filled with sales like itās black Friday. Every company is trying to make some quick cash with the unknown coming in the economy.
You are incorrect. They offer a 20% coupon off three times per year and have been doing so for years. There is always a coupon in late-March when they send out the member dividends and then again in mid-May as part of the anniversary sale (they have a third one occurs in November each year).
If you still donāt believe me, then head over to this link where a guy list on his blog out the exact day each of the past 10 years that REI sent out a 20% off coupon:
Thanks, never seen the 3rd one before. Perhaps because REI has historically not had as much sports tech stuff that qualified until recent years (GPS hasnāt qualified anytime in the last long while).
However, that might actually explain why REI is so quick to let certain trainers disappear around sales (to avoid MAP penalties). For example Wahooās MAP policy is super clear that only two non-MAP compliant āmember onlyā sales per year are permitted, and same goes for Garmin (now owner of Tacx). Obviously, you can violate MAP if you want and hold inventory (penalty is a 6mo turn-off for that SKU).
Amazon does it all the time, and simply buys enough inventory to get them past the turn-off. However, thatās incredibly difficult to do for larger items like trainers.
just a fyi CT coupon code is working on several items, I havenāt shopped for anything yet but I could add more than 1 item to my cart and got the discount applied to all of them
Anyone jonesing for one of those 1-gallon insulated Yeti jugs but looking to save a few coins, RTIC has a 1-gallon jug that works great (I used one all winter to keep tea and soups hot at xc ski team table) and is 35% off. $27.29 sale price. Sale is site-wide. RTIC seems to have several sales throughout the year, but given the way Covid-19 has upended supply chains, who knows what stock will be looking like in the months to come. (PS - I have no connection to RTIC. Iām just another cheapskate who likes to spend money on stuff but hates paying full retail price.)
Light & Motion
It is a good time to appreciate the simple things, exercise responsibly and support your community. We want to make our lights available to you at a friend and family price - 50% off this weekend, so that you donāt have to think twice about being safe on the road. Thank you and be well!
Not sure why when I put the MP1 in the cart and do my vip code it is still only 10%. Rei has 20%. On the fence to by.
