My friends in the LBS have confirmed that they generally don’t know what they will get of which they have on order, it’s generally a surprise what shows up. I have had a set of tires on order since January(GP5K S TR). IIRC BTD is clear that their in-stock date is a best guess.
I don’t think it’s clear at all. It specifically has a date when the product is expected. If they have no idea when it will arrive, then that date is a flat lie. Lying to me every 2 weeks for 6 months isn’t exactly acting in good faith.
Let’s leave it be though. This thread isn’t for arguing on the honestly of a seller. I was just warning buyers not to expect the product to arrive on the expected date.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them. Funnily enough, the only time I had a backorder it came earlier than expected. And yes, it was during Covid so I wasn’t expecting it anytime soon but was pleasantly surprised.
I just got some from REI with the 20% off coupon (30 mm). You may want to give up on Biketiresdirect.
REI only has the standard GP5K’s online, not the S TR’s. I’m not tied to BTD on these and I’m always checking to see if I can snag a set else where. 28’s has been a challenge, I’ve been able to find availability of all the other sizes in the past 5 months.

The backorders can be tricky, but they are super easy to cancel if you do find the product elsewhere. You can cancel from within your order history, or you can just shoot them a quick email and they will do it for you.
