Ive never had success with a corrupt file with Strava either, a few times I’ve had success with is Combining Strava GPS (TCX|GPX|FIT) files, exporting GPX files from Garmin Connect, and adding time stamps to GPX files - GOTOES free utilities
Thanks for that. It wasn’t perfect because I lost all the power data, but in the grand scheme of things, my time and HR data came across by combining them all, so at least I have a record of the entirety of the activity. I think maybe I could get that stuff back if I become a paid subscriber, but for this one time, I’ll go with it. I will bookmark the tool though and if I ever need it again, drop some $.
I’ve always used the free FitFileTools to combine separate recordings:
Never lost power. Donate if you find it useful.
So, this gave me the ability to do what was recommended before and adjust the time stamps. By doing that, I was able to get all 8 files to load, including the power data. Thanks for the recommendation, and a donation shall be made!
That was it. Thanks!
I’m sorry but I don’t have a solution to your problem. I just wanted to say how dumb it is that Zwift makes you end a ride to ride a different route. How long has Zwift been around and there’s still no way to select a new route without ending your ride?
I seriously thought about going and marking them all private on Strava. Feel like an idiot putting 8 rides on people’s feel
That’s my alternative but it doesn’t create files that Garmin likes :-/
Garmin has no problem importing files from FitFileTools in my experience. In fact I just imported one.
I wonder why it doesn’t work for me then . I’ve tried joining files a few times or removing power spikes with fitfiletools (its much more user friendly) but GC always rejects it (Strava works fine). Maybe they have finally fixed it in the last 4 or 5 months (I probably wouldn’t have tried more recently).
I didn’t join the files since some had already gone across. I just staggered the timestamps on the ones I needed to upload.
Don’t know what to tell you, I had a Garmin 520 file with bad timestamp in 2016 and it wouldn’t upload to Strava. After trying to manually upload to Strava, it provided a link to support article with recommendation to use fitfiletools. Deleted the original in Garmin Connect and replaced with FitFileTools. About a year ago had a PM die and generate 2000W for 30 seconds, or something like that. Deleted the original from Garmin Connect and replaced with one I edited in Golden Cheetah. I’ve joined together separate files using FitFileTools and uploaded to Garmin Connect. It just works as long as you delete the original in Garmin Connect
Ive had similar daft spikes with power meters and my first try to edit would be with fitfiletools but I’ve only had success with its generated file to strava (you have to delete the strava original first too). Perhaps I’ll give it a go again direct to GC. A few times at the cafe stop I’ve pressed save by mistake (a bit too easy to do on a touchscreen) I’m sure I’ll have to edit files again and fitfiletools is definitely a more user friendly package, with Gotoes there’s a bit too many boxes to tick
Oh man. I never thought of this. I’ve done that too. Stick the computer in the pocket to go inside the store, come out and find out your ride was completed. Now I know how to combine them!
Press stop, and put in sleep mode before going in cafe. Wake and press start when you come back out.
Thats what I tend to do, there’s still the occasional time when you touch the screen by mistake before it goes to sleep or you restart.
Ok, so…sorry to ask what may be an obvious follow-up question…
Why not just send them straight from Zwift to GC? Meaning, mine automatically show up as soon as I end the ride on Zwift, over on my Garmin Connect account (same with TR too).
So do mine. Usually.
If that happenned to me, I would DUPLICATE that file everywhere, not delete it.
