Dura Ace Di2 - E-Tube programming

Hi @jgutz71,
Thats exactly why I started asking here. Because when I set it to manual (solid green+red for 2 seconds) I still cannot do all the changes I do with my mechanical shifting bike. For instance Small/Small.

I doubt Dura Ace implements any protection agains such combination when in manual mode.

If you have a compact or mid-compact on DI2 you cannot go to your 11 & 12 gears when you’re in the small chain ring.

The only thing I want to use small/small for is rear wheel removal. Beyond that it doesn’t bother me.

I use Semi-Sync shifting. I loved the idea of full sync, but it just doesn’t work for me. on my mech. bikes if i’m changing rings, i’m changing the rear at the same time so why not just have the system do it for me with one button push.

My issue with full sync is the transition to the small ring. It’s too slow, it completes the front shift before doing the rear so all tension on the drivetrain goes away for a split second, not a big deal when I know it’s going to happen but when it happens I’m trying to maintain momentum after coming down a hill and rolling into an uphill, and that transition takes too long and all momentum is lost at that point. When going to the large the system shifts the rear at the same time as the rear and that’s how i’d like the transition to small work but since that transition has both going to smaller cog/ring it’s probably that the rear mech can’t take up that slack that fast. Would like to try where it would shift the rear first then drop the front but that wouldn’t work great either unless you are on top of your gears, asking for a transition to the small ring like that when you’ve already dropped your cadence to 65-75 rpm would be like hitting a wall.

Thank you all! - Great feedback.
Will do lots of testing once I’m able to hit the road again!

Just the sync’d shift to move from the small to the big ring and that’s all. Anything else just got way too complicated. If you aren’t super just leave the setup and get the hood buttons dialed in to help with climbing and away you go. I do find that when racing the sync setup isn’t great so I usually disable it, it also throws the chain every now and again.

This is true, protects the chain from over stretching.

Same for me and I have had Di2 for a couple of weeks now and my only dislike. I did however move when it does this via the computer app and much better. I really like full sync though.

Also some of the reason I bought the wireless box so it can connect to Garmin and get the display and the climbing shifter.
