Will do!!!
Going to Finland on Friday with my wife. It’s her 1st cycling event ever. 40km for her, 177km for me.
Luckly it just one ferry ride away from Estonia + 1h car drive.
See you all there. If for some reason you want to chat with me before, during or after the ride you can find me by my black and yellow kit - large “HAWAII” in front and my initials “TT” on my back.
See you there!
A few quick pics from the Castelli Shakeout Ride today……what an incredibly beautiful country and the gravel roads here are fantastic. The high pics were all taken from the top of the ski jump. (Remind me never to try that sport!!)
Can’t wait for tomorrow!!
The Alfa Romeo Stelio is 100% on brand for me…it is red, the name references a legendary climb and Alfa is an F1 sponsor. I need to get one.
From the ride…
And finally, I had to put an 8 year-old into the barrier, but it was worth it for my huge payday.
Just a spectacular day on the bike….honestly, one of the most enjoyable days I had riding.
Perfect day, gorgeous sunshine, cool temps and unbelievable scenery and gravel. Can’t say enough good things about the race and the country.
Side note - we probably got our answer today re: what would happen if a World Tour rider showed up at a gravel race and raced the gravel pros.
That looks absolutely amazing
Holy crap…just saw that Skujins rode a 52T 1x and his lowest cog was a 33t.
He attacked on the steepest and longest climb of the day (1.7 miles with pitches up to 25%)…in the meantime, I was grinding in my 42/40, just hoping I didn’t have to dab on the steepest sections.
He was literally twice as fast as me up that climb, according to Strava…
I had a similar experience back in the Tour of Utah Ultimate Challenge. Sepp Kuss won with a time up the final climb to Showshoe that was literally twice as fast as my time. Just insane to see and feel that delta back to back with aliens like that
One of my customers is renewing and transferred budget responsibility to their Latvian colleague… this morning, due to issues with the PO, we had to get on a call, and, well, I had to do it. I asked him if he knew of the famous Potato Ambassador, 2x Olympian, lover of the now defunct Tour of California, and all around one of my favorite humans (because his website told me to say that).
You know all the cool kids are doing it when the vowels are left out of the name. i will tell my Finnish-American friends about this!
Congratulations @Power13 ! And great photos!
The Finns should be shocked, all the Finnish-Americans I knew in college (including one girlfriend) had vowels stacked wide and long in their names! My old girlfriend taught me the only Finnish I still remember to this day - mina rakastan sinua - I recommend using that very carefully if traveling to Helsinki! Oh, and Suomi and Sisu of course. Always sisu.
It is the Finnish theater in the War on Vowels….which is particularly savage since….
Saw one word (which apparently meant Dental Clinic) that may have been the longest word I have ever seen and had no less than 4 “A’s” in it, amongst other vowels.
Can always try Maarianhamina that is main town of Ahvenanmaa, autonomous archipelago in southwest outer corner of Finland. I bet SBT office gang decided to skip that for obvious reasons
It’s always a bit depressing when checking the strava segments around here and see the time being so much faster because there are some WT Pros living in the Area and using some of the Hills during Training… But on the other hand it’s nice to see that it now is not anymore more then 2x the time
Looks like a really nice event would like to do that at one point just a bit far away.
