That’s just a Garmin mount you’d put on your stem that I had laying around. I think the Varia comes with one but I’m not sure.
I am a terrible photographer, and my phone is made by a combination of Fisher-Price + Haribo… but here are some pictures of the Varia on a Pinarello GAN RS and Canyon Ultimate EVO. Saddle on both bikes is Berk Lupina.
Sorry for background crap in pictures.
Another that came up in a search. I have a Varia, and I’m considering a Tarmac, so Im now interested in this also.
I should model a wedge in SolidWorks, run some samples on our 3D printer for testing and cut the design loose for free…
That’s some beautiful kit!
I’d much rather send you the $40! If you do, I’m in for an order!
I am starting to research doing this. I will try to find shared models of the related Garmin stuff, so I can make a wedge design for the standard stem/bar mount.
I will post up when I get something ready to print.
I wish my bike wasn’t in storage at the moment, so that I could show you guys a photo of my setup. It essentially looks as neat as if Garmin had made it perfectly custom for my post, and took 5 minutes max with some Sugru and clingfilm… I’ll stop going on about it now, but seriously this is way easier than 3d printing something!
I recently worked with a designer on Shapeways.com to design an aero mount for my integrated bontrater cockpit and my new Wahoo Roam. He goes by “The Revolutionaries” and has a lot of different mounts including some for Varia, specific to certian bike frames as well. Give him a look
I designed this for the Giant D Fuse seatpost - 3D printed in black PETG. It attaches with the same bands that the Garmin mount does. If someone has good dimensions for the Specialized post, I can work on a design for it. No promises on a quick turnaround, though. I plan to be in a turkey coma for the next day or three.
If there is interest in the D Fuse design, I’ll throw it up on Thingiverse.
(edited to add Thingiverse link)
I also have a 3d printed mount for Fi’zi:k saddles. It and the D Fuse use a K-Edge Garmin mount. I can throw the Fi’zi:k mount on Thingiverse as well if anybody wants it.

Apologies for the mucky bike! I made two versions of my sugru mount. This one goes on the seat tube (with the Varia coming up from there, which looks quite neat and aero, and also works with my bikepacking seatpack that I used for a long trip on the summer). The other mount I made fits on the seat post. Essentially the sugru replaces the rubber insert that Garmin provide. It’s easy to make exactly the profile you want (and get the angle that you want). A couple of minutes with a Stanley knife after the sugru has cured to trim off any excess and it looks great. 3d printing is brilliant for making mounts to attach to GoPro mounts or saddle rails, but sugru is perfect for customer rubber spacer type things.
This actually looks great! I think I’m going to give this a try!
I’m looking for a solution for a Specialized Tarmac D post and need to mount 2 devices!
This is for my wife’s bike. She has a Garmin Varia (old style) and I just got her the Fly 6 camera tail light. I really wish someone would integrate a light, camera, and radar into a single unit. Its probably battery limitations keeping it from happening.
Any suggestions on mounting two devices on the rear?
The best solution probably depends on two things: whether she rides with a seatpack, and how much post is showing. If she doesn’t ride with a pack then mounting one of them from the saddle rails is possibly going to be the best way to fit them both on.
I’ve already advocated sugru as an easy way to modify mounts for D shaped posts, so that may help.
Should be an attachment in the box. I bought my light for venge and tarmac. Not the best picture but you can see the attachment. If you don’t have the original mounts bike tires direct has the parts and 20% of your first order.
looks like they released a dshaped mount with the new varia radar:
looks like you can also just pickup the mount at garming for $20… but is it worth $20? i don’t know yet.
I’m going to try to Sugru mount. If this isn’t successful, I might have to breakdown and buy the new mount. I do wish they just sold the rubber D mount separately.
I’ve very happy with the sugru option, and unless someone was REALLY looking I don’t think they would realize it wasn’t an OEM insert.
Just found this thread after getting increasingly frustrated with the out of the box Varia mount constantly moving around on my D-shaped post. Has anybody tried just taking a Stanley knife to the rubber insert that Garmin supply to square it off?
