I blame Couzens and ISM!!

Leave Houston and come to CA where drivers are courteous! And stop riding so slow!

LOL (except for the courteous driver comment, this part of NorCal the vast majority of drivers are very nice)

That’s why IMHO it is important to understand two things:

  1. You need to understand how the Varia works and its limitations and tradeoffs. Thinking of it as a detector for (fast enough) movement in your direction with a field of view really helps me how I use it. It isn’t a radar-based rear-view mirror.
  2. You still need to be aware of your surroundings. The Varia is like an additional sense in addition to sound and sight, but you shouldn’t use it as a replacement and e. g. stop looking over your should.

I have the RVR315 and within a year it’s the 3rd time the power button has jacked in (worn out into a hole) I think I press it pretty gently, so I cannot recommend that version without the light .

Had this “ghost car” experience during the weekend.
Interestingly, a ride buddy (with a 515) and my own 715 both encountered the same issue at the same time. We could hear the warning chimes from our head units.

Yeah, I had it several more times after this discussion and confirmed it definitely happens for me in some cases.

its even in the manual… see the NOTE below:

Yes, RTFM people its actually how it works! Not bored, LOL, sitting here scheduling meetings and getting ready to go out for a ride. Its actually somewhat ironic comment, because you’ve been known to tell people to search the forum for similar questions/answers :upside_down_face:
