Headband Recommendations to Keep Sweat Out of the Eyes

Interested to see how these work out. Did you end up trying any of the Sweathawg products?

Lululemon mens vent tech headband. Keeps sweat out of my eyes for 3+ hours and it quite stylish IMO.

I’m running Halo2 to keep my hair and sweat out of my face. They work well, but on hot, hard days in the garage I can saturate one in an hour. I stop during a rest interval and squeeze it out and it’s good for another hour. No stink either.

Not yet, I’ll get one after I try out this wickflow.

One (albeit very hot) ride in and the wickflow, unfortunately, doesnt seem to work any better than all of the other ones I’ve tried. I’ll give it a few more rides before i chalk it up to a loss. Sweathawg is next.

I really like my Helmet Liner X2’s. I can ride far longer with those than any other I’ve tried before I have to stop & wring it out. If it’s really hot & humid (as it has been this summer up in the northeast US) I can get 45 minutes to an hour before I need to squeeze it out. If it’s low 80’s with humidity level in the low 60’s, i’m good for close to 1.5 hours. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Ordering now. My biggest need is for races that are in the 45 minute to 1.5 hour range.

Man, unless I did something completely wrong (didnt really come with “instructions” are you supposed to keep your helmets front pad in while using this?) this is probably the worst one I’ve used so far. I started dripping sweat into my eyes like 15 minutes in

Yes, leave the helmet pads in. There is a video on their site that shows how it fits in the helmet. Basically, it goes in with the front edge flush to the edge of the helmet & is held in place when you tighten the helmet. I’ve recommended it to a bunch of people & 2 of them I ride with locally got them & love them.

eek. the instructions tell you to cut away your helmets front padding so it can be replaced with this?

Crazy how many of these I’ve tried. Probably spent as much money on these as tubes!

Indoors I really like the Halo2 but in groups it seems to back spray a lot (just me?) and I tend to avoid it. Took a chance with the SweatBuster and it is my new favorite. I had low expectations based on the SweatHawg but it really does absorb a lot of sweat. Been keeping my Sutros clean and dry for hours in the Palm Springs heat. One downside is you need some space in your helmet to accommodate comfortability. Fine with the Giro Synthe but not the Lazer G1.

Depends on the style of padding in your helmet. If yours has little wings attached that pad more of the top of your head they want you to cut those off and reinstall or you won’t have any padding in the top of the helmet.

I have a POC Ventral Spin helmet and the shear pads inside of the helmet are part of the overall head protection. I would totally not be okay cutting these up to increase sweat absorption. I guess to each their own.

Alright, just rode with it with the helmet pad still in and definitely much better. Actually zero drips so that was awesome. BUT it was a surprisingly cool day here, probably 15ish degrees cooler than normal this time of year. So ill be interested to see how it does in the higher temps.

Good to hear. You will need to stop & wring it out at some point. When it’s really hot & humid, I get about an hour drip free before I have to do this. Then I get about another hour before I need to do it for a second time. After that, I don’t sweat near as much, I probably start to get a bit dehydrated but it always seems to last longer on the 3rd squeeze.

the ultra thin halo is great, keeps your forehead cool, and sweat free…for about 20 to 30 mins if you’re a heavy sweater.
I have a castelli headband which not only looks great, but keeps me sweat free up to 90 mins :fried_shrimp:
