Heart rate monitors: What are you using?

Cant believe there isnt more love for the Scosche…I have had one for 6 or 7 years now…just charge it once a week and forget about it.

This is probably because it was connected by bluetooth for the app and Fenix (although I would think. it would sync ANT+ first).

Because it’s what people experience to break down first, and the new strap worked immediately.

I’m using a Whoop strap that I no longer pay for.

I had a Tckr that stopped working.

Hrm-pro for exactly 2 years and 1 day now according to my email. Somehow have not changed battery but I didn’t didn’t ride much in 2023 (baby/moving). I’m on vacation so it will probably die this week. Haven’t had any issues with it, it is the first one I wash regularly since laundry is next to gym and I just rinse it weekly when I do gym clothes laundry.

My previous Garmin,I think the first soft strap version? Lasted about 8 years, it still worked but I got fed up with the tiny screws for the battery, possibly stripped one and just decided to replace. My hard strap one circa 2010? I think still was working and only being used on the trainer but the elastic was done.

Deal tip: find someone on eBay selling 100 “used” ones to avoid MAP restrictions

Many Bluetooth pairing problems are due to the heartstrap (or other Bluetooth device) pairing to another device. In the past, I used to do TR workouts on my iPad. But my heart rate strap was also paired to my phone (e. g. for runs). I’d have to manually disable Bluetooth on my phone to ensure that the heart rate strap would connect to my iPad.

I have new version of both the Garmin and Wahoo. I recommend the Wahoo personally. It connects with less fuss and I like the design a little more.

1st Gen Wahoo Tickr was great, no issues until I accidentally broke it. Bought the 2nd generation tickr and it doesn’t work as well…I either get weird HR data or it stops working mid-ride. Bought a Polar H10 and it works great.

I will mirror what other people are saying… I misplaced my V1 Tickr X and replaced it with a V2 Tickr. WHAT A PIECE OF GARBAGE. It was very cool to finish a particularly strenuous interval only to see my HR flatlined at 127bpm when I knew I was well into the 180s.

Thankfully I found my V1 and it’s still ticking ( ) after 6 years of use.

Again, avoid the V2 at all costs.

I had a ticker but eventually seemed it did not want to wake up. Had top pop open the cover then it would turn on. Now onto garmin duel, wow i hate those little scews at the back. Always buy a good battery brand i hate changing the battery

Polar H10 that I got over 5 years ago and a xoss x2 pro that i got because i was intrigued by a rechargeable unit that didn’t need new batteries.

The XOSS was 20 bucks but it works really well.

+1 on Coospo. Bought the armband model 18 months ago and it’s been trouble free and accurate comparing it to my Wahoo chest strap model. Super easy, fast recharge w/ magnetic connection and blinks red when getting low then green when charged. First arm band one I have used and I’m now a fan!

hello, were you able to connect you xoss device to trainer road? it doesnt detect for me.

Mine was my laptop would not connect

I’ve just ordered a Coospo HW9 armband HRM on ebay as a replacement for a now broken polar OH1.

I prefer the armband over a chest strap for indoor training.

Is anyone happily using just the optical sensor in their watch? DC Rainmaker reviews of the Garmins with the latest sensor (Fenix 7, Epix Pro, Venu 3) seem pretty positive.

At the moment I’m using a Polar Verity armstrap, which has been excellent. Previously had a Polar H10, which was great until it stopped working - and I also don’t like wearing chest straps.

I have and use the same, very happy with it as well. I’ve compared it with my Garmin Fenix watch. It’s just not very reliable. I’m guessing it’s because that position on the wrist is not the greatest place to measure heart rate during activity.

Thanks! What model Fenix do you have?

Fenix 7 solar.
