-1 for the Tickr for me actually
I find it to be the most finicky of my straps. My current generation Garmins work every time and track accurately quickly.
The Wahoo only works for me if I use electrode gel. Also, the strap always comes loose

received a “Megane” brand dual BT-HRM ordered off of eBay. One ride and no issues so far connecting on BT
+1 for the Scosche Rhythym+
Another vote for the TICKR
Have mine on a Garmin strap and it just works.
Can’t recall it ever giving me any problem with TR or Garmin head unit or Strava on iPhone
Plenty of votes for the Tickr here, so it sounds like a great unit, but I’ll throw in one I haven’t seen mentioned yet: Polar. They’ve probably been doing HRMs longer than anyone and I’ve never had a problem with their stuff (I’ve had two Garmin straps fail). Currently have the H7, and even ran a Polar strap with a Garmin transmitter for a while when the Garmin strap failed.
The OP was a fair time ago so you’ve probably made the decision. But it looks like you’re UK based, therefore I’d consider the Decathlon BT & ANT+ HRM. £30, I bought it as a stop gap and its never faulted so I’ve kept with it.
Being a cynical so and so I used a medical grade HRM & blood pressure meter (sphygmomanometer) to check it was 100% accurate with that.
Thats part of their protocol BT 1:1 ANT+ 1:many.
Caught me out when I’ve used my GPS unit AND Strava on my phone. If the GPS unit is out of range the phone grabs the connection and obviously wont give it back. Baffled me what was happening first few times. (I use Strava Beacon so the family can track me on longer rides).
OK - ready to give up on my TICKR. What Garmin should I get!? Need Bluetooth to work with my Element bolt.
Wahoo was nice enough to send out a replacement when my 1st Tickr died after a year, but now the 2nd Tickr is dead 6months later. Ugh.
I believe that the only Garmin strap that currently has Bluetooth is the Garmin HRM-DUAL (BLE and ANT+) which came out at the beginning of the year. Another option would be the the 4iiii Viiiiva HRM which is also BLE and ANT+, but also has some other functionality such as BLE to ANT+ bridging. NOTE: Both cost more than the TICKR.
