Insulated steel cycling bottles?

I mentioned the same way up the thread and never really got a response other than from people who say you can’t taste stainless bottles (which you and I disagree with). I would trade putting up with that taste for getting rid of plastic and having colder water though. I’m just not willing to give up 3oz per bottle. I’m hoping Bivo will make a bigger bottle soon.

I’m with you. I absolutely can taste the metal. I gave away a case of Liquid Death water because I couldn’t get over the metal can taste. And I tried probably 8-10 different stainless bottle brands and all had a little metal taste. It’s not super terrible but it’s not great and 100% noticeable. Whether I could get over it on the bike I don’t know. I for sure prefer my Elite bottle taste. I’ve never really noticed a plastic taste. I also use the 950mL bottles so I’d be giving up 7oz per bottle. The insulation would be nice though. Just not sure I want the extra weight and smaller volume that comes with it.

I would love a bigger volume bottle too, but the trio is basically the size of my 1L bottles already. It can’t really get taller, and can’t get wider, so until they come up with a new thinner insulating technology it is what it is. I wouldn’t use it in a race, but for a training ride the weight doesn’t matter and I just plan out my water amount and use a pack or extra bottles as needed. But having ice cold water hours into a ride is worth some hassle in other areas.

BTW, this bottle uses an air vent via a “straw” to the bottom, so that when you tip it up water comes out very freely. Works great.
