This to me is a big problem with expensive things like smart trainers - they should really have a 3-5 year warranty. At this point once it lasts a year any problems are now a profit center for the manufacturers.
This and that spare parts (besides belts) aren’t available.
These kinds of problems and the lack of good warranty coverage is to me a huge problem with the whole smart bike trend - I like the idea of them, but need a much better warranty and serviceability story for me to spend my money on that.
Not sure if this is helpful or adding to the confusion, but I bought a Kickr Core in Sept 2019 and it’s worked fine from the start. Zero problems. I like the look of the $1,200 Kickr more but for me, $300 additional for a 20 lb vs 16 lb flywheel, and 20% gradient vs 16% wasn’t worth it. It’s totally steady by the way, I have it on an exercise mat made for exercise equipment, in my garage (so on a concrete floor, no floors beneath it).
Yea, really trying to keep this to the Kickr 18 only, not interested in the CORE. Also, its a 16 vs 12lb flywheel
I don’t know if the 2018 Kickr Core was supposed to have the same problems as the 2018 Kickr.
However, I have been using my 2018 Kickr Core since November 2018 and have never had an issue. I’m still as happy with it as the day I got it. If not more so. It’s smooth, I use ERG mode 99.9% of the time, and it’s nearly silent.
If the full size Kickr, especially the ones fixed after the initial release, are just as good as my 2018 Kickr Core then I couldn’t imagine riding any other trainer.
Will the Kickr ever work again or do we have to wait for the next model?
I did not. I use the H3 and love it.
I think @rkoswald was asking why @Cleanneon98 returned his H3 (the reason he is also shopping and researching in this thread on others).
@rkoswald mentioned you since he has heard you like your H3, and was wondering what lead @Cleanneon98 to his issues.

Can’t attach a video here but the 2018 I tried yesterday which is almost new, has some kind of clunking sound and I can feel it through pedals. It’s a shame because ride feel is great, responds quickly but not too quick, quiet, but just does not leave me
