The units definitely use DTE746 oil(Saris confirmed this). Which is Turbine oil. Is the one you used a motor oil?
I think they are similar, but different.
I spoke with our local Oil reps who gave a few recommendations.
I used Hydraulic Jack mineral oil ISO 46.
( just be mindful the Viton seals don’t mix well with some oil)
I wouldn’t bother to much about the noise of air/liquid. Unless it is bothering you or doesn’t give you the required resistance.
Thank you for providing these details.
I will find out if there are similar oil products available in Taiwan. If it doesn’t work, I have to wait for Fluid2 to leak again and do the assembly again.
Hey, did you need a hydraulic press to get the shaft out of the housing or did you just take the gib screw out of the roller the tire rides on and then just tap it out with a mallet? Mine seem like it is pressed in pretty tight
Hi,
No bearing press or hydraulic press used. I can’t remember exactly how it all came apart given the time. You will need to get everything apart and removed, and then knocking the shaft out is almost the very last step. Last step being the bearing removal.
Good luck!
thanks Gary_Gumnut,
Do you remember if you removed the turbine from the end of the shaft (inside the unit, not the flywheel side)or if you removed the whole shaft with the turbine still attached to it? I saw a c clip on there which I took off but the turbine cup was also pressed on pretty tight. I did fill it with a blond of manual trans oil and gear oil I had laying around from an old veh and it works great so far. A lot of resistance pretty quickly so either too much fluis or it might be on the thick side but it works for now. will see if it starts to leak from the rear shaft seal
It is all a distant memory, sorry! I think take the flywheel, roller, and screws off, tap the shaft out. Take the c clip off and you can knock the shaft out. So yes turbine will remove towards the c clip.
I messed about with my fluid levels a bit until I got rhe resistance the way I like it.
