Can I ask how the skierg compliments your trainerroad routine? is it for strength training or for cardio?
Great use of space.
Love the weight rack, looks like a toast rack!
Not so sure about the really thin surf boards though
I bought the skierg in 2015 just as the black model was released. I didn’t start cycling until 2016/17, so I really only bought it to compliment my rowing, which I feel like it did quite well. To be honest it hasn’t seen much use over the last 2 years, but I mainly use it for the early season virtual competitions and I love how it feels for cross training.
Before I did strength training I would use it to help with that element, but now I just do actual strength training.
Okay, phase erm 4, things are improving again.
Built a power cage today but still trying to find a barbell which is impossible at the moment.
My son rides regularly on Zwift now and he’s not yet ready to share bikes so two bikes squeezed inside the cage
And I’ve chosen the angle which hides the 4m3 of “mum stuff” I need to hide in the loft before I can organise my toolstation and bike maintenance kit.
The kids don’t use a turbo but they often come and knock out 30mins on the treadmill whilst I’m on the turbo. Youngest is 6. Talks me to death which is tough going on a VO2max effort
Quite a few updates to my pain cave since I last posted in this thread.
My cave is still in my home office, but I flipped it around and cannibalized some storage space to give it more of a separate feel from the rest of the office. Other changes from my first post: upgraded to the Kickr Core (from the Snap), sold the CAAD12 and built up a 2018 SuperSix Evo disc.
I’m really happy with how this turned out. In relation to my entire office, it finally feels like its own space now instead of just a trainer setup thrown in the middle of everything.
PS - Go Bulls! (if we ever get to watch basketball again)
Must be a 6 year old thing - mine won’t shut up either!
Taken just before the ironing board got setup with the laptop. I don’t have enough space inside my studio apartment I have to use the space just outside instead. As a result I have to set up and break down everything each time, which is a pain.
Doing set up / break down around every workout keeps you focused on the essential, efficient set up, though!
Shoutout those of us who have to tear our setups down every time. My ‘setup’ is basically at the foot of my bed, with my laptop on my dresser. It’s a bit dorky and certainly not ideal, but I am fully hyped to (hopefully) buy a house at the end of this year. I am convinced that a house is one of the best training accessories you can get.
The pain cave we all wish we had!
A “boat” my father bought one from a furniture store and then a buddy knocked it off, we then returned the store bought item and bought the “knock-off”.
Got permission off the boss to have the spare room as the pain cave. Luckily for me right next to a window. Monitor for Netflix linked with Alexa. iPad for trainer road.
Your cooling setup has reached Jedi Level
My pain cave is not nearly so impressive as 99% of those in this thread. It’s crammed in a spare bedroom, beside the bed.
Original Cervelo P2C c. 2006
Dehumidifier/ioniser
Bose QC headphones
Wahoo KICKR
Cheap gym fan (powerful!)
iphone with TR app controls KICKR
ipad for entertainment on cheapo music stand
Peppa Pig book on which to sit spare bottles and snacks
Wahoo mat to protect carpet. But carpet is 20+ years old and probably worth less than the mat
Here is my spot in the basement. Built a Rocker plate with materials laying around the house during the stay at home order here in Michigan. Usually have Zwift going too but waiting on new ANT + dongle.
Great space!
The plastic reminds me of Goodfellas (or Dexter).
