Meditation and other exercises for athletes

Do you happen to have links for the studies? Would be very interested to read them.

Even though I have a whoop and love it, I also use eliteHRV with a corsense fingertip measurer.

I do 5 minutes in the morning, 10-15 at night.

You have to sit totally still or lay totally still to get a good reading. If you really relax and you’re weird you can look afterward to see how low you were able to get your HR.

Most of the time I fall asleep. So that’s my accidental relaxation meditation method.

…people who have done up to 62,000 [!!!] hours of meditation in their lifetime… showed never-before-seen levels of gamma, one of the strongest types of brain waves…The typical person will have a gamma wave very briefly…long-term meditators, however, show gamma all the time as a lasting trait, no matter what they are doing. Their baseline readings…were 25 times greater than those of the control group. “It’s their everyday state of mind,” says Daniel Goleman.

(FWIW, there are multiple parts to meditation – the focus, the distraction, and the return to focus (there is a fourth but I forget what it is). It has been observed that majority of the benefit of mediation is derived from the ‘return to focus’ phase; it’s what strengthens the brain. In other words, all those errant thoughts are going to make you more awesome…if you don’t get carried away by them…)

Hehehe
Agreed. It’s only useful if it makes us happy.
I would like to say that happiness comes from a solely internal source, but I have reason to doubt that since today is my last day at work for 6 weeks (I work in a school)

If it helps…I get 6 weeks pay taken out of my salary…and worse…I can’t get time of for the BCBR.

Half full glasses.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

Hi guys, I’m looking for some volunteers for a cycling hypnosis/mind based resource I’m putting together and I wondered if any of you would be interested? All I need is an hour or so of your time for a call to get some more detailed info about what issues cyclists in different disciplines/levels may commonly encounter and in return ill give you the resource (which will be pretty detailed) at no cost.

Im a Clinical & Performance Hypnotherapist based in the UK and would be very grateful for your input!!
