Yeah I had an appointment yesterday and they did some ART but too soon to tell.
Initially they were doing needling and Graston. I saw a chiro yesterday for the first time and they started ART but I have another appointment with a different PT, felt like the first one wasn’t really getting to the root cause.
Have you tried shoe/cleat wedges?
This bike fit video with Neill Stanbury https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e56u_UJdWoU deals with someone who was sitting at an angle and Neill mentioned that it looked like he was using one glute a lot more than another (he also was reporting some other issues). It was a simple fix with some wedges in one shoe. (Neill thought that if that didn’t work it might be a q factor issue). I was having similar issues and I just put a wedge in my shoe and my saddle interaction and related pains and strains are feeling much better, though I am just 2 rides in and don’t want to jinx it.
That said, both the cyclist in the video and I have had foot/ankle injuries which seems to be why we need this. I don’t think you’ve mentioned that so maybe it’s not the same issue for you, but it seems worth considering if you haven’t done it already.
I took two weeks off to let the area heal and then a different saddle and Assos bibs helped enormously.
I also used a Selle Anatomica H2 saddle for a while right after the injury. It’s a great saddle for a more upright position. It’s very soft and you sit on sort of like a hammock. Ultimately, it didn’t work for a more aggressive road position.
My bike packing friends use Brooks’ saddles on the bikes where they spend 10-15 hours per day in the saddle.
I’ve had leg length discrepancy measured. It’s very slight - not enough to be corrected. I have one foot that is larger and played with a clean a tiny bit farther back on that foot but it didn’t make any difference.
I think the bottom line for me is that my pelvis is not symmetrical.
Yeah cleat wedges and in shoe heel wedges are the only thing I haven’t tried. I have G8 insoles but they haven’t really helped much. I don’t think they are hurting anything.
AFAICT, cleat wedges only really affect knee tracking. I’ve used them with Specialized shoes that come with a built-in tilt. I used them to dial out the tilt because Specialzed shoes make my knees bow out while pedaling.
Cheaper than an Essax Shark Fin saddle
My god, it is a real thing
