I think that running actually barefoot caused my problem, and the bike shoes just didn’t work to dial it down once it started. I kept stretching like a demon possessed mad man, and it FINALLY went away. I thought I’d never get over it. Now I’ve got raging tendonitis in my left elbow that is starting to make life really iffy, and my right arm will get to a situation where if I roll the right wrist counter clockwise (thumb down) it feels like the muscles and nerves are being pulled out with pliers! I mean, it’s woken me up it’s so painful. It stopped for a couple weeks, and was back last night. Yippee!! (This getting old crap is not for sissies)
I did find a pair of Nike Bowerman shoes in the cutout bin at the once local runner/racer shoe store (I moved, they didn’t) and bought them (my size SCORE) and they quickly became my number one running shoe, until I literally ran them to pieces! They were really rather flexible, but were not stretchy laterally, and felt great! But they developed a really obnoxious funky dead zombie dead swamp foot reek, and then start falling apart. I was pretty crushed… (Nike had dropped their ‘better designed’ Bowerman’s a few years before I found that one pair. Might have been a story behind them, but they had a great life, and I do miss them to this day. I mention them because they were the closest I came to a ‘barefoot shoe’, I think) But I found that the carbon soled higher end bike shoes really make my feet feel so great and provide excellent support. Or I just like spending money on bike shoes?
