Power Meters for MTB

Very much considering power2max as my next option if they update the NG. Currently on Rotor 2inPower.

Hey @SirNorden, did you get a Power2Max NGEco and how’s it working out?
I’m looking for ‘budget’ power meter for my Canyon Exceed CF SL 5.0 which also runs a Truvativ Stylo 6K DUB crankset.
All stages options have sold out in the UK…

Hey @Janedennyson, Yes i did get the Power2Max NGEco, and its AWESOME! The setup process was very easy, even the problem that people described about the small offset that my Cannondale has, only required a small spacer to get the chainline and all to work perfectly. I have been very happy with it so far, the readings i get from it is well within specs compared to my Neo 2T (which i also have tested to be within specs against my XX1 Quarq and Assiomas). I feel i get exactly the same quality from the Power2Max as i do from my Quarq…and that says alot about the quality since i gotta admit that i am a very big “Quarq-fanboy”. So i can definitely say that i would highly recommend it…the value you get from it is on par with the top tier powermeters :+1:

Here is a little picture of it in case you want to see how it looks on the Truvativ cranks:

Ofcourse i picked the color matching the frame

Quick question for anyone who has a 4iiii who is a left foot first descender: any noticeable power spikes?

I had a Stages that was horrible in this regard and since then I’ve shied away from crank arm based power meters, but some of the bikes I’m looking at would be better served with one (or a pedal based model)

There are always power spikes with all left side power meters. Don’t know why they’re so much more sensitive in comparison to Quarq.

However they’re should be too many and they shouldn’t be too invasive.

Here’s my Wednesday workout with Stages XTR crank on the local XCO-course.

Have a 4iiii L side on XX1 crank and haven’t seen anything abnormal

This looks similar to the issues that I had with my Stages. Thanks for sharing. I ended up spending too much time editing and wasn’t able to trust the unit for accuracy eventually.

4iiii claims that they don’t have the same issue, but I’m skeptical.

Basically if it was spiking, you’d see a suspiciously higher max 1-2s power than you could generate on the road, along with an irregular looking cadence reading.

Sounds like yours is working well then if you havent seen anything weird :+1:

I chose quarq , because, almost at the same money…arount 700eur I got quarq PM + xx1 cranks…so… win,win.(upgrade from gx aswell)
with 600-650eur you only get the PM from power2max…

I have data from a 4iiii as well.

Here is from an XCM race last year.

Thank you, this is really helpful!

You’re welcome. Let me know if you need something else. :+1:

Waiit, if you can get a 4iiii on a SRAM crank does the XO1 LH crank fit GX?

Is your GX crank DUB?

No I’m pretty sure it’s not - GX Eagle on a 2018 Spark RC.

Edit, nope, it’s an X1 crank on a GXP PF. 24mm then…

Maybe a SRAM/Quarq/Powertap pedal power meter??
