Mona on the front row of XCC, I think that answers the question
Yep. She was ranked 7th I think. She was absolutely swamped on the first lap though .
Moving forward as the pace eases though .
Wow, PFP with fantastic form. She looked great in SA and has carried it through.
Haley and Kate looked to struggle with going too hard early.
Mona onto the front row for the XCO.
Great menās race. Bummer that Ben Oliver must have been caught behind (maybe in) the crash on the first lap.
Lots of strong looking riders. In the end I found myself disappointed that Avencinii couldnāt get the W.
Hopefully the XCO has better camera angles. Some frustrating viewing in the XCC with low cameras and poor focus. I would guess it is all a learning curve. Still so good to have excellent coverage and free to air.
Massive crowds! Kind of why I hope they have the ability to lift the cameras a bit higher so we can see over them .
I think one of these guys is Leandre Bouchard from Canada. He is on the world tour XC.
Just catching up on the races. The whole racing in the rainforests was really cool to watch. A very nice switch up from the European ski resorts we typically see.
Sunday should be awesome. Agreed on the camera angles though. Was a bit rough to follow.

Specialized team look pretty good. Blevins seems to have rebounded from Cape Epic better than Haley (at least based on XCC form).
The XCO course should suit Chris if heās got the go juice to be there in the final few laps.
Sounds like sheās still pretty crook. Unlikely to be on the start line it seems.
Might be that bronchitis thing that was ripping through the Pro peloton .
Thought it was gonna be a boring womanās race but it got exciting for the last 2 laps. Lol, the f-bomb from RM in the post interview.
The crowd in Brazil looks like theyāre having fun, the big crowd is creating some bad camera angles. I donāt think they werenāt expecting so many people to show up. The course looks really fun and hoping Blevins can get up there to win, it would also be awesome for Avincinni to win for the home crowd!
Wow, amazing mens race. I didnāt think Nino was going to pull it off, very happy for him. I was surprised to see he wasnāt locked out in the final sprint. There was quite a bit of movement in his fork.
Gotta love seeing Bec Mcconell finally get the win, so close in Snowshoe and really would have been a chance without a flat tyre. Sheās been a consistent resident on the podium the past two seasons much like Marotte, Iām sure heāll see a win soon enough also!
Becās interview after that race was absolutely legendary , and so great to see her get that first win. Several other random thoughts:
- The Austrian ladies really showed what we thought they were capable of. That could be a fantastic battle for years to come
- Bohe had a great ride too, another first year elite rider killing it. Iāve heard it said she has been terrible with technical skills in the past, but has really improved that. Sheās a real contender
- Kate probably had ride of the day. 4th row start, coming out about 20th place, but picking it up, and just losing out on 8th spot. If she can get the XCC races right again, then sheāll be back on podiums.
I intend to watch the menās race tonight, just didnāt get time yesterday.
Ahhā¦ That was the difference in why Nino was able to get his first win in 3 years:
Nino Schurterās winning Scott Spark RC now with Syncros Silverton SL wheels
Syncros Silverton SL wheels with a 30mm internal width rim can already boast of having won an XCO World Cup. Nino Schurter has finally chosen them, after months preferring the traditional radio model
Now yes, Nino Schurter wins with the Syncros Silverton SL wheels
Nino Schurter already has his 33 XCO World Cup victories, equaling Julien Absalon. To prevail in Brazil he used a Scott Spark RC that had an important novelty compared to the configuration that he had used in other tests. This time yes, it was equipped with the Syncros Silverton SL wheels, completely made of carbon, but which until now had hardly been used in competition, preferring the version with conventional spokes. The first version had a 26 mm internal width rim. That was one of the reasons why he preferred to continue using the Syncros Silverton 1.0 with traditional spokes. But his demands were heard and now he has at his disposal the 30 mm internal width version.
Someone, somewhere will believe that and buy the wheels
Wow, what a World Cup!
Disappointed not to see Neff out there with her skills but man, how good for McConnell to get the win!! Fatigue seemed a bit factor. KC also had a strong race after a poor XCC and getting stuck/swamped at the start with the bottle neck and crash.
N1NO!!! That was exciting! So stoked for Nino.
Great results for the Kiwiās too. Cooper with a great result with an illness and Ben Oliver finishing in the Top 20 is huge. The technical nature suited the New Zealanders in the race.
I have to agree with Avencinii about the changes to the course making things more dangerous. Shame they added those wooden landings, the one after the big rock drop also looked very borderline given then angle of the natural line/landing. The riders were very close to the edge, a lot closer than theyād have been with the dirt. I didnāt see anyone go down there though.
If anyone wants some XC racing for the trainer.
I havenāt watched the coverage yet as the kids are still on school holidays and Iām battling some sort of bug, but I followed the results.
Schurter was always on a hiding to nothing with the huge workload during the week. Good to see Sarrou going well.
Anybody know whether thereās a Proffix Swiss Cup or Internazional dāItalia Series race this weekend? Or are we just waiting for Albstadt?
Sam Gaze is set to debut. Though will obviously be limited. Iām keen to see how the rest of the field goes (particularly the Kiwiās) hopefully everyone has recovered from the sicknesses.
Sounds like Pidcock and Koretzky are in for Albstadt and Nove Mesto.
