Ramp Test, Automatic Adjustment to Rider Profile?

Agree. I basically leaning more towards: setup your ftp correctly by proper, long ftp test for everything below threshold and go all out for everything above (and review power after). Simple and quite effective so far.

Good request I think!

Have been using TR since October and have recently started revising ramp test results down slightly. Not often tested and had 0.75*max min without TR revising it down slightly but still don’t feel it’s enough.

I’ve never made the breakaway either! Cat 2 in the UK from 100% bunch sprinting. So you can probably figure out what my power profile is.

Problem for me is not necessarily compliance with workouts but the build up of fatigue over base and especially during build eventually results in a decline in performance. I think ramp tests over estimate for me on that basis.

@mcneese.chad do you think the TR team will look at this topic, think there is really a lot of good input up to now?

They already have. Bryce is a TR employee and takes these requests to the TR team for sorting in their priority lists.

The crucial point!

I am currently not using TR and the reason can be found in this topic. Maybe I was getting faster but my training program compliance was all over the place and therefore my usage of time/effort was poor due to:
1 - Non optimal FTP estimation
2 - Inadequacy of FTP as the single target power determinant

I will be back using TR if and when these two issues get sorted out.

As I heard @Nate_Pearson saying in a recent podcast, in two years time we will be looking at the way the product was today and think something like what the heck were we doing, there is a much much better way to do this.

So… let’s be patient.

sure, but they need support of us with subscriptions, so it’s easier to manage the costs for good development!

never seen a platform that is so open minded for User wishes, only the Stryd Team is similar!

It would be great when TR and Stryd would do some kind of cooperation, it would be a dream for triathletes / duathletes, theoretically TR could also include power training for runners,
possibly even with treadmill integration

there is an existing " Power Profile Test" workout already on TR, could be used, or, what do you think?

H.A. & A.C. Power Profile Test

Description
Power profile test for 5-second, 1-minute and 5-minute durations to be used in conjunction with Coggan/Allen’s power profile assessment.

IMPORTANT: The test intervals will automatically switch from ERG mode to SLOPE or LEVEL mode if you are on an electronic trainer. This means you might need to shift or adjust the level when these intervals start. TrainerRoad will not hold the resistance to the target like the rest of the workout.

Goals

Assess 5-second, 1-minute & 5-minute power output following a recent FTP assessment (at least 1 full day’s rest between assessment workouts is highly recommended).

Riders will go all-out for each duration in an attempt to produce their highest power output for each of these 3 durations.

The results from this workout combined with the results from a 20-minute or 8-minute FTP assessment complete an entire Power Profile per Dr. Andy Coggan’s specifications.
