Shaving your legs?

I do and have been for a few years consistently (or waxing). I just got the new Philips OneBlade and it makes the process simple, fast and hassle free.

Not gonna lie I do it 100% for looks and nothing else

If I shaved my legs I am sure people would expect me to shave the beard off, that’s not going to happen

No idea why off-road riders are averse to leg shaving, one of the big pluses is how much easier it is to clean grime off your legs.

On top of that its faster, feels awesome, is easier to apply suncream/massage oil, and looks pro. Your partner will probably grow to prefer it, just keep out of the stubbley in-between phase.

Wet shave once at the end of winter to remove the bulk of the growth, then electric shaver to maintain for speed, convenience, and no risk of slicing yourself.

I shaved once, the wife laughed but once it grew back she told me to wax instead. Continued waxing for the summer, once winter came I let it grow but now I think they look weird and the wife is on my back to wax them again. Yes it bloody hurt the first time but it lasts way longer than shaving and the pain reduces each time you do it.

I’m a triathlete so go all the way up to the crotch, otherwise it looks pretty weird when I go to the local pool for a swim

I do it because I think it looks way better, if it makes me faster then that’s just a bonus.

I agree. It’s just not worth the hassle. It takes forever to shave and it itches like crazy after a few days of not shaving, so you have to do it 2-3 days a week. I already get up super early for work and adding the extra 5-10 minutes to my morning routine for the shave just wasnt worth it.

The guys from Specialized have shown that the power saving from shaving your legs is much higher. Watch the clip IanDarlington hast posted!

Waxing is the way to go. Like rhysc_s wrote, it hurts like the dickens the first time (or couple of times) but now I can (and have) fallen asleep. I needed to shave once a week, or thereabouts (it’s been 17yrs since I shaved), but waxing is at most every six weeks and easily done once per quarter. My then-girlfriend now wife made me switch – razer stubble = bad – and sent me to her waxing lady, who had never done guy’s legs before.

I do it for trail running (less dirt, harder for ticks & others to hitch a ride, some temp regulation), cycling (mostly temperature regulation on super hot days when I want to pour a bottle of water on the thighs, but also for crashes and dirt), and massages. I swim a lot (my background) but I wear a drag suit whenever not in competition so don’t really care about the drag there.

And then there’s the point with waxing that the hair that comes back is thinner and less dense than before.

Shaving is just so time-consuming, potentially painful (I remember slicing a chunk of skin off my achilles once), annoyingly stubbly, and short-lived.

Anyone try an epilator? Thinking of trying that.

My dirt tans still only take a wipe or two with a towel at the end of a ride, the cleaning thing doesn’t seem to matter much to me since i don’t get as bothered by getting dirty in the first place. Also only had one hair pull in the last 10 years during a massage… guess I’m just lucky.

I am the same! Tried shaving once and the stubble was too bad for my wife. Instead, I use hair clippers with no attachment and it cuts the hair short enough that i don’t look like Peter Sagan when he was going hairy, but long enough that it doesn’t bother her too much.

Exactomundo.
[/quote]Hehehe “Exactomundo”…love it !! I’ve not heard that in years

Be brave, shave. My wife isn’t crazy about it, but I think she’s just jealous of my legs.

Use creams, so much easier, apply then jump in a shower… simples. It’s 100% for looks for me though, looks far better IMHO, wife doesn’t mind it either

When I first did it I felt weird for a few weeks. Now if I see people with hairy legs I’m like “ew gross” - plus as everyone says your legs look banging :ok_hand:t2:

Haven’t seen it mentioned in the topic yet but for me there is a commitment aspect too. I’ve definitely talked myself out of low spots in races by reminding myself that I shaved my legs for this.
