SLC Crit drama after the race

Does not follow… they’re sponsored by Zwift and Specialized, among others, LOL.

What doesn’t follow? It’s like they are trying to not succeed and lose all their sponsors by repeatedly doing the opposite of what they should be doing. I mean:

being nice
not bullying riders in a race or online
being professional rather than posting flippant remarks on Instagram as a form of business communication
walking away from Hernandez rather than engaging

They are “so bad at the business side of this” that they built the team from scratch themselves and are sponsored by two of the biggest names in the sport. That doesn’t follow.

They got there but they keep doing stupid stuff that would not make sponsors happy. It’s like they are not trying to stay on top. Or, they just don’t give a crap and think they are untouchable.

If you can’t understand my point, we don’t have to discuss it further.

On the contrary, I do think they get it. I also think people make mistakes. And finally, I think they’ll be just fine as is. They do a lot of not stupid stuff too, like winning races and being kind to kids and fans, and they create exposure for their sponsors more so than any other domestic cycling team. That’s good business. Like I said, they’ll be just fine.

And this👆is the big downside of cancel culture.

I’ll be watching the Comm Games road race next weekend to see how the (non-cancelled) Williams brothers go, seems like a pretty strong field at the pointy and at 160km it’s not a super long race. I can’t seem to find an elevation profile though, assume it’s a bit of a lumpy profile but no big climbs - can any of the UK people on here assist?

It’ll all come down to whether Australia want to bring it together for Caleb (if he’s racing), or England for Cav. Lots of strong nations and I wouldn’t have picked Belize to have a strong enough team to control a race like that.

Looks like about 350 feet climbing per lap with the majority in a punchy climb just under 3 miles into each lap.

Not sure Cav would appreciate that! He’s from the Isle of Man, not England. I don’t think the England team will have an out and out sprinter

Of course he is :man_facepalming:. I had just been talking about that yesterday too lol.

Either way, I think the Welsh, NZ and other teams will be sending strong riders up the road. Could be anyone’s game I guess.

Kiwi team looks pretty strong actually.

Our track team is seriously firing :ok_hand:. Road team has potential, always tricky to know as it depends so much on the tactics of the other strong teams and getting in the right break lol.

Either way, I don’t imagine the Williams brothers being heavily involved, but I am glad for their involvement.

This isn’t cancel culture, I don’t have any desire to cancel him, I just am not a fan of brawling and when I see someone doing it then I don’t have good feelings about them. Lets not make everything political.

RR Course

I’ve raced on many of these roads, many of times. There’s nothing, in terms of lumps and bumps, in this course, to trouble riders of this calibre. It’s got all the ingredients to be very quick.

What I would say is that if the British weather turns up and it rains, the roads will be slippery, especially those in and around Warwick town centre. They are also narrow and packed full of road furniture.

Good call deleting that post.

Moderators… This poster seems to be saying that countless videos show that certain races are aggressive like it’s some sort of proof that certain races are more aggressive. This is like white nationalist propaganda. Have I read it wrong?

Wait, you’re calling me racist because they post videos head butting other racers and pushing them into the gutter? Not only is this completely off base, I find it offensive and and it doesn’t help this discussion. I think you need to take a look in the mirror man and re-read my post.
