Specialized Power Mirror saddle

One thing to check is whether you have Power Arc or regular Power. Arc-shaped saddles have never worked for me, I definitely prefer the flat ones.

Update: oh, you mentioned it’s Power Mirror Pro, I missed that. Well, that thing is indeed archy, compared to “normal” power saddles. Keep that in mind. But the following still applies.

But the main thing I wanted to share is that depending on the bike and your position, it sometimes makes sense to try sizing up. It’s a long story about how/why it happened, but I have 143 on all my bikes (road, gravel, SS hardtail) except for a full-suspension one, where I have 155. And I feel comfortable on all of them.

Max width it is actually coming in at about 151 mm.

I know that I had a regular S-Works Power that was supposed to be 155mm and was like 167 or something. I feel like their labelling is just to sound more technical than “small” and “large”.

Just came here to see what people were saying about this. Been using a Romin Evo mirror on my trainer bike for the last year or more.

Just started getting perineal discomfort where I’ve been wondering why it started now.

I actually have good luck with Selle Italia on my Road and MTB, so may be back to trying one of their superflow saddles on the trainer.

Been struggling with same side sores for years now which have gotten worse lately as ive moved into threshold intervals. I actually turned away from a race this week as it was just too painful sitting on the saddle.

So I thought id try one of these saddles. My word, did 2 hours yesterday, it’s like im on a different bike or put bigger tyres on. I kept thinking I’d normally move now to stop the right side discomfort but I could just sit still.

Seems strange riding in comfort when struggling becomes normal …

I lately started doing longer rides >4h again (1.5h max the years before) next to regular threshold intervals. In addition, especially on the long slow distance rides I try to focus on proper pedaling technique. I noticed how later in the rides I compensate accumulating discomfort with weird leg movement and want to get rid of that.
I was quite happy with my Selle SLR Boost TM Superflow S3 on the shorter stuff before. But Since last week when I did a double (5h each) day I thought my ass would fall off. Still yesterday, almost a full week later, my seat bones were in pure pain the 2nd hour of my ride.

Should I invest 300 Eur in a mirror saddle? I wouldn’t mind the money if it would indeed allow me to do long rides pain free.
And which is the one to get? Spec lists the Power Pro, the Romin Pro Evo and the Phenom with mirror. But I struggle from their descriptions to get which one is recommended for what? I’d ride XC, Marathon & Gravel with it.

Not really making the decision easier, but there is a 3D printed version of the Selle Italia SLR Boost too.

I can’t really answer whether you should.

First saddle was Fizik Antares, lots of perineum discomfort so switched to cut out saddles, they alleviated this but caused sit bone issues. The Power is a nice compromise as it has material right the way across but is super soft where it needs to be, your whole behind feels supported.
Now its 50g heavier than previous saddles, and more expensive, so thats a thing I suppose, but I got a good deal on it, its twice the price I paid for the Prologo Dimension but its light years ahead in comfort.

Looking at some of the other 3d saddles, I now wouldn’t choose one with a cut out as I discovered it’s really rather nice to have the perineum area supported properly. But you may be different.

I weigh 71kg and still have issues with the Romin Mirror.

I am not sure if I am doing something drastically wrong with it but it feels like 20% of my weight is supported by my sit bones and 80% by soft tissue. No issues during the ride but really bad numbness in the days after.

I do not have these issues with the Power Mirror but I wish it had the thigh clearance of the Romin. I have also now tried the Phenom Mirror but I couldn’t really find a good place to sit on it.

I weigh around the same and also had significant comfort issues with the Romin Mirror.

Ended up selling it and getting a Berk Lupina short 132mm and my butt is much happier

I tried the 155mm power mirror with a 120mm sit bone distance. I do not like. It puts pressure on the soft tissues from the front. The cutout doesn’t work well in Drop position. I can’t sit further back because it causes my thighs to rub. Is it possible that the 143mm version would be better?
What has worked best for me so far is the Stealth Pro curved saddle.
I also really like the shape, I have one problem with it, unfortunately on many hours of travel, 4-5-6 or more, I get pain in the ischial bone and it is uncomfortably hard. Obviously, this saddle would be good for more intensive riding, but less so for endurance rides.
I have tried these so far: Selle SLR Boost endurance, Stelath Pro, Now a power mirror 155mm, power saddle 143 and 155.,
I was thinking about the Romin evo mirror saddle, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to adjust it properly.
My current saddle position. As I looked at the range of the Romin saddle rail, i think it would not work.

The 143 would be the right size for 120mm sit bones. Sounds like you are sitting too far forward on the saddle because it’s too wide for you to sit where intended.

How did you position the saddles? I had a Power Mirror on one bike and tried the Romin Mirror but couldn’t ever sit on it comfortably. What I noticed was that the wide part, where your sit bones would be, is further rearward on the Romin, meaning that it needs to be pushed forward to get the same saddle position. My seatpost (with setback) didn’t have enough room to slam it forward, so the saddle was effectively about 1cm more rearward than my Power Mirror. I would have needed a zero setback seatpost to get it in the right spot. So maybe that’s why you felt like your sit bones weren’t supporting your weight, you needed to push the saddle forward more.

Exact same experience. Oh thiiiis is what it was like for other people all that time?

My sit bones were definitely in the right place (and it does need slamming forward) but I think that bit is so soft it doesn’t prevent your soft tissue sinking into the nose.

Well, since then, have had a little discomfort, chafing, left wotsit getting in the way, because so much saddle is in contact it needs to be just right, went forward a bit, up a bit, then ahhhh found the sweet spot, oh boy.

I have the Romin Mirror. I agree the thigh clearance for me is poor, which can cause chafing on the inner thighs on longer rides. I end up sliding forward to compensate which causes other issues.

The shape of it is all wrong, middle section of the saddle should be narrower to allow more room for the thighs.

Have now the 155mm power mirror on my Gravel for 1000 Km or so. Good news is that this pain I had with Selle or SQ Lab is gone, even with 15h riding a week.
But I also slide forward and need to correct. Not sure it´s because the width or the frame or because of just taking climbing position.
