Is the shape closer to the power or the power ARC? Specifically the wing area that causes irritation to some folks high hamstring area.
Arc!
I cannot ride the Power for my life… no issues at all with the Mirrors “wings” as they are narrower and slant downwards just like the arc.
I echo all the positive comments. I’ve owned one for more than a year (bought it when it was first launched) and it’s truly great - best saddle I’ve owned by far.
It’s not lightweight, which some might expect given the price tag, but it’s so worth it on the comfort aspect. It’s stood up pretty well to usage also, done a fair amount of kms on it already and it doesn’t show any signs of abnormal wear.
I just switched (4 or 5 rides so far) from Romin to Power/Mirror and I’ve been having good luck with the Power so far.
Also it looks like the Romin EVO w/ Mirror is (officially) coming: S-Works Romin EVO with Mirror | Specialized.com
Comparison for folks of the mirror compared to the ARC power. Both of these units are 155mm.
You can see the “wings” are located slightly forward. Interested to see how this goes.
Follow up after a week;
If the regular power didn’t agree with you but the power ARC did, you might not like the current power Mirror.
I had the same high hamstring rub issues (which turned to saddle sores) with the new saddle just due to the shape. I really really wanted to like this saddle, and i can certainly see the benefit of it especially when you get down in the drops and are pushing big power, there is zero feeling in the nose on your junk, but it just did not agree with me.
This will be going back. I guess i should be happy i’m saving $500?
Been looking to get one for my Neo bike to replace the power saddle but they are never in stock.
Interesting. I had a power and hated it. Then tried the power arc and loved it. Now have hav the mirror and it’s the best saddle I’ve ever ridden. And I find the mirror to be closer to the Arc than the original power. Have you tried sizing down to the 143mm?
Can anyone comment on how to choose between Romin Evo Mirror and Power Mirror?
I am in need of a new saddle as my current S-Works Power got damaged.
Thanks!
The Power vs the Power Mirror are two different saddles.
I can ride the regular Power for 5min and then I need to hop off, Power Mirror on the other hand is so good that I have bought three of them.
Regarding the Romin vs Mirror, I feel that I can sit on more places on the Mirror, whereas when I ran the Romin for half a year, it had one position for me that worked…
But all asses are different
Havent tried the Romin Mirror unfortunately…
can you explain this one a bit further?
i only ask because i run the ARC after having hamstring issues with the regular power. I rode the power mirror for a week and low and behold the hamstring rub issues came back almost immediately which leads me to believe in terms of SHAPE they are very close.
The mirror tech might mean that weight distribution is a little more even.
The Power Mirror is much much closer to the ARC in terms of shape, primarily of the “wings” which have more of a downwards curve at the end (this is where I have issues on the regular power).
Of course this doesn’t always mean that the Power Mirror works for all ARC users, but its definitely different enough from the regular Power to work for some.
After putting the two side by side I disagree
You’re looking at them from the wrong angle… look at the regular Power, and the Power mirror from the front, and you’ll see that the saddle wing fall off is greater on the mirror
Yup, top profile is one aspect, but it’s not the “real difference” between these. The taper from the middle out on the wings is very different between the regular Power and the Arc model. I have not played with the Mirror versions, so can’t compare those, but I know many people refer the “roll” on the leading edge of the wing from the Arc since it doesn’t “dig into” the booty like the regular Power can for some riders.
Fair, and to that point you are right it does fall off more similiar to the ARC. The issue some will find though, and the top view shows this, is that even despite the roll off, the edge is so much further forward that you still have hamstring impingement.
I did try shifting the saddle back 2cm and while it alleviated some of the issue it still wasn’t great which is why i went back to the regular ARC.
Anyone have feedback on the Romin Mirror versus Power Mirror. I just got a Romin mirror (primarily to ride on the trainer) and did a short 30 min ride and it seemed fine. But, curious if anyone has compared to the two.
I see comments like the power mirror is more “trail” and the romin mirror is more of a climbing saddle.
Funny, I would think the opposite. I’m going to try these saddles on a couple of bikes in the coming months. I was going to get the regular mirror for the trainer (where I’m in one position for long periods of time) and the romin for my gravel bike (where I want more variable position options).
I switched from a regular Romin Evo, which I already loved, but had discomfort on long indoor trainer sessions to a Romin Mirror. Absolutely in love with this saddle and 3h+ indoor trainer sessions are now problem anymore.
