According to just ride bikes, the seatpost is to narrow to take the battery, 3 min 25 sec for quote
Interesting that the white paper has the Tarmac faster on climbs. But I guess now we’re only talking about 100 g difference in weight with the Tarmac being more aero:
I find the move towards a round downtube one of the most surprising things about this bike. For the last decade or so every bike company has been hitting us over the head about moving away from round tubing to be more aero. And now we are back and more rounded tubes as specialized says it doesn’t matter as much in ‘real world’ settings
I do wonder how much downtube shape matters when you have a traditional water bottle on the downtube
ETA: not too big of price drops on the site for the outgoing SL7 yet. But I can be patient, haha
I’ve got no business thinking about a new bike right now but this green is perfect
I told my wife about it and said it was too expensive (currently riding a Roubaix Expert Di2 that was ~$5k before wheels). She was like…it’s not that much more in the grand scheme of things.
Is this a trap?
yo specialized design people - stop putting the brand name on the chainstay and fork
Get the ready to paint version? One thing i like about my Crux is lack of branding.
Those are Canadian Dollars, not USD, you know that?
Yeah, I can gather context when I see “nouveau” in the pic……doesn’t change my reaction in the slightest.
Of course it’s super expensive. Not more than the SL7, Trek Emonda/ Madone, Pinarello, Colnago, Cervelo etc.
Bikes cost a sh!t load of money, no news there
At the risk of being intellectually consistent, I find the prices on those bikes equally laughable.
Of course top of the line is going to be expensive.
But what bothers me is that you can get a Cannondale SuperSix Evo with 105 Di2 for less than the regular SL8 frameset.
And considering all the aero yada yada, that makes the SL8 immensely poor value.
I mean, at some point we must look at what you’re getting. If the SuperSix without the MOMO cockpit measures 207w in Tour, then it suddenly doesnt make sense to pay whatever premium Specialized is asking.
Its a damn nice bike, but come on… It’s 17,800USD in Sweden with tax and whatnot. I paid 27,000USD for a 3 year old Volvo V60 with HUD, beige leather seats, etc.
It becomes ridiculous eventually.
And to compares apples to apples. I paid 6,500 USD for a Venge Pro UDi2 with Royal CL50s in 2019. 4 years later and the equivalent bike is now 11,500USD (Swedish prices translated to USD).
She must have something in mind she wants you to buy her
I do like that green ultegra di2 version as well
Things like this don’t happen! Don’t buy anything for the next year to be on the save side!
Looks amazing…
And even with the one piece the cables still dangle under the stem
If I had to buy now, I’d get the cannondale. Much better e front design imo and very good aero quality.
Yeah mine registered for tickets for the next leg of T Swift’s eras tour (which would involve a flight), after I heard I secured mine.
Don’t think either of those is the one piece, both look like separate bar and stem. But yes, that head tube does not look great with spacers.
This is going to be the bike that finally puts me off S-Works builds. The prices are just insane. I didn’t like it with the SL7, but I told myself prices were staying that high because of COVID demand and availability. I just see no excuse for it now. Add in that Spesh cut profits from their own dealers and I just can’t justify it in my head anymore.
