Iām facing the same issue, thanks for posting this, I will try it out
Relying on the App or indicator lights on ASX shift levers is not always accurate. Both showed batteries were okay, but after replacing them, everything now operates again as it should.
Had the same issue.
Derailleur indicates low battery, with fully charged battery, and shifters not working even when newly paired and with new batteries. And unstable app connection as well. 
Solved it by cleaning the copper connectors on both Derailleur and batteries with alcohol. Then everything works again. 
Nothing to do with low temperature.
