Tendency to put in more effort on workouts

I thought I was but I’ll do a proper googling on “powermatch” prior to my next indoor session.

Indeed - with SS, I feel as though there should always be a little left on the table.

Worst thing to do is to hammer it one day (when you shouldn’t be), paying for it over the next couple of days. This derails subsequent workouts, torpedoing consistency (which is the no 1 thing for progression).

In the past, I’ve been guilty of this (i.e., going too hard during sweetspot sessions and having to take a few days off). 10 years into training, I’ve realised that it’s better to go a little bit easier, recover well and nail the next session.

At worst, you’ve done 3 weeks of endurance-level rides. That’s actually good base training.

I’d just go into a straight retest tomorrow. The ramp test is probably about as taxing as a vo2max workout, so shouldn’t be difficult to factor in. Also the new desktop app should give yoh a predicted ftp, so you can check while testing, now that you have a better idea what your ftp should be.

You didn’t do the ramp test as intended so all of your training zones will be off.

Re-do the test and go to failure, see where you end up.

Restarting a plan 3 weeks in isn’t the biggest loss in the world.
