Considering @chad just mentioned on the recent podcast that for Two-a-Day training, a good easy second ride would be Pettit +1, which contains 2x20s 180% sprints…I’m sure doing 4x30s 120% intervals wouldn’t cause much damage (~5 TSS).

I think there might be a better phase to add these in than SsB hi vol , I’m going do them in SPB.where it makes sense to me as this gives you time to turn it up before specialty phase is over.
Just what I’m going to do. Not that its the only answer.

I wouldn’t necessarily think so. I’d say that for someone like me who is primarily an aerobic rider, 4x30s VO2 intervals in the middle of Baxter or wherever is going to take a toll (not all TSS is created equal). If you’re conditioned to those types of things, probably not. As an aside, those two sprints in Pettit are supposedly “form sprints” where power doesn’t matter, so maybe not a great direct comparison. Anyway, your point stands.
