To all CAAD 12 Owners/Supersix

If you’re a fan of showing lots of seatpost and a long stem as is currently the fashion you could squeeze on a 54. I’m on a 58 at 6’2” and pretty pleased. The CAAD12 is spot on stack and reach as my last frame but looks (and to some it seems feels) bigger because of the classic, non-sloping, top tube design vs most bikes today which are overwhelmingly semi-compact.

I’m 5ft 9 and ride a 54cm supersix. It’s always been comfortable and feels right. I was sold it from a good LBS and when I had my bike fit I was told it was correct. I will add though that I have short inside leg and a longish torso.

I’ve often wondered because of those is a 53/52 would be a better frame size?

I was thinking of buying a canyon and when I input my measurements with them they recommend a small frame size?

I’m 5’6" and currently on a 52cm CAAD12. While it works, a 50 would’ve been a much better fit for me. CAADs and SuperSixes run big.

That said, I have a buddy who is 5’10" and rode a 54 forever, but switched to 56 with a SuperSix. He didn’t like it at first (thought it was too big) but got used to it and I think prefers it now.

All in all, I think a 54 would be okay for you since they run so big.

I’m an inch taller, and I would ride a 56. A 54 would be a little too short on the top tube/long on the stem for me. Depending on your measurements, you could probably go either way, it would just depend on what kind of set up you want.

I have the CADD 12 size 56, I’M 5" 11" and 3/4, but I have a plus 3" wing span with a long torso and only a 32 1/2 inseam, I’m a 54 from the waist down but a 56 waist up , I always go larger,I ride a 56, I test rode a 54 and felt too much weight on the front, new to the road bike , I’m coming from Mtb. and upright positioning, the seat post is probably only 4-5 showing. for some that matters.

I’m 5’9". I rode a 52cm CAAD9 and SuperSix (2014). I now ride a 50cm CAAD12. The CAAD12 is just big for the reported specs. In particular the seat tube, since it extends above the top tube, is longer than most bikes of generally similar measurements. I bought a CAAD12 52cm frameset, built it up, and it was too big, so I had to buy a 50cm one. And, even on a 50cm, I’d like to get a headset top cap shorter than the gigantic one Cannondale supplies (but not fully slammed).

So, I’d say if there’s any frame you can size down on, it’s probably the CAAD12.

I had to do the same, I was offered two good deals (one on a Trek Domane SL6 Disc, another on a BMC TeamMachine SLR01) but the frames were 54 cm in size.

Frame size isn’t just a function of body height. My size is pretty much identical to yours, but all 54 cm frames feel way too small, mainly because my knees then massage my belly when I am in an aggressive riding position. Perhaps I could ride a size 54 with significantly shorter cranks and a rather long stem, but I haven’t tried that. Stock 56 cm frames seem to fit like gloves, though.

So I would say pass on the offer unless you are sure that you can make the frame fit you.

I’m 5 10 and ride a 54 cm Supersix with a 110 mm -17 degree stem that’s slammed. I upgraded the frame from a CAAD 12 in November last year. The bike feels the right size for me. I’d say the 54 would be fine with a long stem. Your size is smack bang in the middle of Cannondale’s geometry chart for a 56 cm frame. But it may come down to your torso length relative to your leg length. Some of the riders I coach will go a size smaller that the norm and a longer stem without any issues.

5,85 and riding a 54 Super Six Evo. From 5,95 I would prefer a 56, have tested both bikes before riding.

Supersix rider and 5-10. 54 is perfect.

5’10" and ride a 52 with a 110mm stem and a couple of cm of spacers. Will be dropping another cm which will add to reach but could happily run a 120mm stem on current stack height.

Could have gone for a 54 with a slightly shorter stem but preferred the handling with the smaller frame longer stem. Of course could have then gone up in bar width but that turns me into a wind break. The whole handling / stem length / bar width relationship does seem to be something not many people seem to consider when choosing a frame size.

Oh wow - I’m 6’4" and was looking at the 63cm, based on this I’m thinking I should go max 60cm? Wonder who fits a 63cm then…

Tbh, I could go to a 56 with a longer stem really. Currently running a 100mm on there.

I am 6’2", but older. I am also a freak, in that I have a very long torso and only 33.75" inseam.
I ‘believed’ the charts so I bought a used Cannondale 60, and, now, it is way too big for me. I did the 8-measurement calculator, and it said 56.5cm is what I should ride…who knew?
