Primarily it is a question of aesthetics. The SL6 has this clean linear look and in my mind the current seatpost doesn’t fit into the picture - neither does the bar. That gives me a “good reason” to hunt for one of this crazy light posts and a fitting bar/stem combination.

There is a 0mm setback Specialized seatpost that fits the SL6 seat-tube shape, it is the “Pave” one. It looks really sharp.

Yep, it’s on my shortlist. I am still pondering if I should splurge near double the cost of the Pavé on a post half the weight. 95 g instead of 209 g - weight weenie heaven!

New bike for me! Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 2021. Swapped out with longer Ritchey WCS stem, Roval Terra carbon seatpost, DT Swiss GR1600 wheels, Pirelli Cinturato Velo 700x35 and fenders for winter. Hate the bar so wider Zipp Service Course XPLR on the way. Have another wheelset with 43c gravel king sk for gravel.

My favorite change was swapping out the plastic plug inserts in all the 5mm threaded inserts with low profile 2.5mm Allen key head black titanium bolts. Makes the cheapo aluminum frame look more lux.

Ended up with a NOS Giant Revolt frameset, built it up with GRX Di2.

Still working out some fit changes, and may get different handlebars etc.

Zipp 303 S with 38mm Pathfinder Pros.

I have a 650b setup with 47mm Maxxis Ramblers, and greatly prefer the ride and handling with the 650b setup.

I am looking for some new Conti 5000 S TR to mount on the Zipps instead, so I can run them on this bike as a sort of endurance-whatever setup too.

That’s more like it.

New Bike Day!

2022 Trek Emonda SL 6!

This is my first carbon bike! Really was considering the Madone SL 6 but I want the aero bike to be my “super bike” (Di2, integrated stem/bar combo, and 800 series Carbon) so I figured I could save up to that and maybe even do Project One. The dream is to own both an Emonda and Madone. In the mean time this bike is no sleeper and I look forward to many rides with this guy. First step is to get carbon wheels so recommendations are welcomed!

Hey… What light are you running on your seatpost? I haven’t found anything that fits nicely for my revolt!

Nice looking bike

Waiting for a while to get this one… but finally enjoying it!

Bontrager Flare RT rear light.
Comes stock with a rubber strap which works fine.
However I prefer to mount it using the round mounting accessory piece, available separately for a few dollars. Clamps onto the d-shape seatpost just fine.

All but Race Ready.

Changes since last pic

New handlebar (RaceFace SixC Carbon) and spacer/headset cover (Syntace Mega) has given me a higher and wider position with a shorter steerer and lighter bar.

Black grips and black bottle cage

OneUp EDC tool with Jank Plug Buddy on the end of it.

SuperRace tyres and PTN tyre noodle.

34T Chainring.

170mm PNW Loam Dropper.

Super capable bike. Weighing in right around 12.5kg (hopefully a smidgen less) without the need to carry anything else in my race pack other than a tyre lever and my mini pump.

I’ll try and get a better picture or two between now and race day.

Still can’t ride it (16 inches of snow over last 2 days) but was able to get a picture of the winter changes. 7.1kg as pictured.

I’ve bought a 3T Exploro Racemax and joined the gravel bike it crowd!

Looking forward to seeing how it will fair as a one-bike quiver killer. I certainly had a lot of fun in the mud with the 650b 2.25inch tyres fitted at the weekend and it’s fairly quick with the 700c 32mm GP5000s. Not planning on selling my aero road bike just yet though.

Loving the Ekar groupset.

New build for the upcoming season. Canadian winters have it sitting on the trainer right now

Does anyone else have a bad habit of finishing summer bike builds in the winter? Managed to only get him dirty once so far…

Cannondale Systemsix with a mix of mech Dura Ace and Zipp/Sram goodies. Paintwork by Fatcreations, who did a stunning job, I’m afraid the photo won’t do it justice. Happy boy over here!
