TrainerRoad - what do users expect / want in the future

Are the new Training Plans für 50+ people already live?

What it the ideal/suggested/recommended rest period? Half of the interval?

No.

I bookmarked this for later when I’m at a PC. I will see how much work it will be to split it out.

@PhilSJones, any chance you or someone else following this chain can give me a specific link to what seems like the best comment for me to use a start of splitting out this discussion to a separate topic?

You probably know this… the threads would be the…

Sweetspot progression thread

Threshold Progression thread

Not sure where the cutting and moving needs to start.

Yeah, that is part of the challenge. Snipping and shipping to the right one for each. I have been ignoring the OT in this topic so I am super green to what to do with it all in this instance since I expect there is more than a little crossover in addition to clear splits.

PS: @Bbt67 thanks for the search and share of direct links. Definitely saves me some time & effort. Cheers  :+1:

Think it starts with the “SS90 club/team” posts, but I might be wrong.

Just delete mine Chad. Make it easy on yourself.

OK?

I don’t delete typical posts as a general practice these days. I leave that to each user or TR support in the messy stuff. This is not that type of issue, and I just hope to get useful info to a better place long term.

Just a thought: It seems we have multiple threads discussing very similar themes, all related to interval progression, whether it be SS or Threshold (or probably VO2). I suspect the threshold one is more relevant here as that was the theme here, and the SS progression thread refers to the threshold one.

Just a thought. I’ll leave it to the theme contributors to sort out where their comments should best lie…

@mcneese.chad, if I were working on moving content to the optimal thread for it, I’d say this post…

is still very much on-topic: what TR users want/expect from TR in the future. Anything that benefits from being moved comes after that post, and should go to the “Threshold Progression” thread.

Any mention of sweet-spot in this OT stuff is in relation to the More Sweet Spot! team and workouts I built years ago, simply as an example of what we’d like to see for threshold as well, and is probably best kept together with the rest of whatever is being moved.

Hopefully this helps?

I’m guessing this was a stab at social that’s now old hat. But, Teams can be (are - see above!) a repository for a bunch of extremely useful workouts, so a way of retaining and better surfacing those would be needed if Teams was binned.

Bin it!

I think the sub-filters within Zones are largely poor, with sometimes a random assignment to a category that means little. However, rather than binning, improve it.

Workout search is useful, and I use it a lot, but it could be much better if boolean operators could be used, enabling you to zero in on a precise workout or workouts matching multiple criteria.

@mcneese.chad At this point we probably should also have a thread discussing what thread to move posts to.

I’d like TR to look at my Strava, and find routes I’ve ridden that map closest to my prescribed work out for the day. For example, last week I did an outdoor VO2 Max ride. At a reasonable pace, all the intervals came while I was on steep downhill sections. 300watts downhill is nearly impossible. It would have been great to say “maybe do this flat route today because you are doing Vo2 max today”. Or “This route has a 12 minute hill which is exactly what you need for today’s sweet spot intervals” . . . . Seems doable. You have the data.

The duration filter is amazing!

It would be if it didn’t continually try to adapt back but hey ho teething problems and it hopefully will be amazing when the bugs are sorted out, the concept is great

this is not doable. TR doesn’t know what gear ratios people have. Have big enough gears and you might be able to push power downhill, easy enough gear and you can go easy on uphills. It totally depends on a lot of factors. You could just vary your rest intervals to time the interval for where you can stay on the power the whole time.

Should be exactly what workouts level 2 will enable. Don’t see why those rides couldn’t be suggested as alternates too.
