UK users looking for a Lasko fan, check this out... Thanks to Hugo1!

They are good but nothing insane. I have three blasting at highest setting after couple of minutes of riding.

Looks like the CFM is less at max 350CFM compared to 518CFM of the Vacmaster?
As a comparison, the Honeywell Turbo fans are 185CFM.

This might be a more comparable unit?

Hi. Just wondering if you bought this from Amazon? I was trying to see the voltage and I think it says 115v? Is that same as yours? Does it work alright?
Thanks

The frontal area of a cyclist is roughly 0.4 square metres. If you were outside riding at 10m/s which is 36km/h or roughly 22mph then you’d have 4 cubic metres of air hitting you per second or 240 cubic metres per minute.

518 cubic feet is just under 15 cubic metres.

Not all of that air is actually passing directly over your body and thus cooling you, there’s a buffer effect of air in front of you plus laminar flow but it goes some way to showing just how much cooling you do need indoors.

For a reasonably intense workout, say VO2max intervals, one Vacmaster isn’t enough for me depending on the ambient temperature - the recent hot spell in the UK had me sweating even during milder workouts whereas I wouldn’t even undo my top when it was cooler.

That shop-vac one looks great (gb-tools link) - but the web link is a US company, and I think its almost guaranteed to be 110V. Shame, as it looks pretty much as good as the Cleva vacmaster.

Has there been any update on the UK plug Cleva fan being back in stock? I have one, and looking to get two more, but it seems they’ve been out of stock for months

I’m in the UK and bought it from Amazon UK, it’s 220-240v and the same obviously for the pass through power connection.

So I’ve just looked at the models and edited this post, there are different versions/models of this blower with different power ratings and Amazon has listed the power incorrectly compared to the manufacturer specs.

The ‘Mighty Air Mover’ (P80A) version with the 1 x UK or 2 x US Daisy chain sockets is 138watts and pushes 600CFM (manufacturer specs below)

The P80 is the same version as above but doesn’t have the daisy-chain sockets.

There is also a 'Mini Air Mover - P230-AT at 180watts that pushes 800cfm
https://xpower.com/shop/xpower-p-230at-1-5-hp-mini-air-mover/

18-20 inch floor fans push around 5000cfm, but are hugely noisy.

These don’t seem to work so well when put straight in front of the bike.

I have one of those + 2 Honeywell turbo fans, looking for a more compact solution!

I assume you mean 500 rather than 5000.

I just checked the manufacturer specs on the ‘Might Air Mover - P80A’ in the post above and it is 600CFM.

If you’re in the UK and prepared to pay £90 then you can get the 800cfm beast with next day delivery via Amazon Prime

Agreed - got mine delivered last week and really impressed with it.

This is what I was trying to get my head around. It wasn’t clear from the description or pictures, I think they both contradict each other.
Went for r more powerful one in the end.

No, I meant 5000cfm!

https://www.screwfix.com/p/hf-45b-18-industrial-floor-fan-220-240v/754HY?tc=HA2&ds_kid=92700048793290397&ds_rl=1249404&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp8y2pZv56QIVNYBQBh1-XAxtEAQYByABEgKnMPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

For example the above 18 inch industrial floor fans is rated for 7302m3/hr which is 4297cfm.
Not as targeted, but definitely getting close to road air flow.

I’ve got one of these 20 inch bad boys with 200w motor:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Elec-Powerful-Velocity-Standing-Commercial/dp/B07SS5FF2S

Can’t find the exact specs, but the 18 inch stated 4297cfm with 100w motor. The 20 inch with 200w motor should push quite a bit more…

I’m more interested in wind speed 2 meters away from the fan than I am of the total air flow (CFM).

Cleva fans with a UK plug are back in stock

Just ordered too

Just ordered mine as well. Marvellous news!

Mine!

Yesterday I ordered a second XPower from Amazon (the first one arrived cracked). Fortunately, this morning I got an email from Amazon saying they made a mistake and they don’t have any XPower in stock.

Perfect timing to switch to the Cleva

Just ordered one also, was tempted by 2, but with free delivery, I can always buy another later (assuming there is stock)

Another ordered here too! They’ll be out of stock again before long I reckon!
