+1 for me too. Garmin Connect will be my main calendar until this gets fixed.
Exactly the same here, I wouldnât pay one cent more than I do now, as it is.
Well Nate, thank you very much. You certainly make it look amazing! Big promises, I am looking forward for it.
Meanwhile if you would be so kind as to sync all the âbasicâ/worth-zero-or-at-least-not-good-enough running data thatâs available in garmin in our calendars, I would be deeply obliged. When you can improve it, improve it wether it will be this decade, or centuryâŚ
I am a simple person, not difficult to please. Sarcastic, but simple.
Just out of curiosity:
Do you have a concrete vision for that and lacking resources at this time or are you on hold still looking for a better vision?
Just to balance out the complaints here (which frankly amaze me with the depth of feeling) - Iâd like to say that I am happy to wait.
Take your time TR. Itâs all good.
I am also happy to wait, when I signed up to TR it was so I can improve as a cyclist, everything that has come since has been icing on the cake.
Absolutely want to see this as well. On my full IM training plan through plan builder, i have 3 TR workouts and ~7 other workouts that are run and swim. That means i need to go into training peaks, extract hrTSS for each activity and manually input data into TR. Statistically, i manually put information into TR for 70% of my workouts. Its become a daily routine which is time i could spend training = becoming faster = what TR is all about (coach Chadâs words not mine)
Please consider whether there is some basic level of support that can be created quickly and easily, then improved upon later. For example, not having ANY info imported for runs/swims is a huge problem but having even âRun event on 3/feb 07:55am, 132 TSSâ brought into the TR calendar is a huge benefit. Analytics and details can come laterâŚ
I think the 132 TSS is going to be the problem there, unless they develop the feature to an extent that it understands your pace, grade adjusted pace, heart rate or running pod power. Maybe the TSS could be unset until you put in an RPE.
OK, valid point. But even if I get just the fact that there was a run, that it happened, and that it started and ended at these times for that distance (all things that should be incredibly easy to code for), then they can store the detailed data for later analysis and Iâll assign RPE or estimate TSS myself.
Having to enter an activity manually, enter the time and distance manually, and manually mark it completed makes it much easier to just skip TR altogether, which is not what I want and hopefully not what they want either.
I know what I want to do, just lacking resources. I feel like the other things weâre cooking will make a much much bigger impact.
Yes, I agree and I should have started with âJust having the runs/swims there and uncategorized would be a much better user experience than tabbing back and forth between Garmin Connect but âŚâ
Thanks @Nate_Pearson! I know my comments earlier in this thread were probably harsh, sorry. I believe you guys want to put out the best possible product and I am hoping TR can be the hub of my triathlon training soon. Keep up the great work!
At this time, people just want the Runs to sync and get a TSS value.
The rest will follow !
(I need this feature to get back to TR and drop TP)
Hi @Nate,
I super appreciate you replying yourself here, and the openness with us. You wrote:
âWe have runs displayed internally, but itâs nothing special. When we do running I want it to be better than everyone else.â
Please know that it feels a bit like being in the desert, asking for water and hearing âNope, no water, maybe sometime a fantastic drinkâ. Iâd like a fantastic drink, but now we just need water
What makes it worse is that you have water internally, HAHA!
I will admit you may avoid a reputation of âTR doesnât do running very wellâ as you wrote. Instead, you now have the reputation of âTR doesnât do basic runningâ.
Iâm happy with triathlon plans, and very happy with the structured training you offer. I just think you have mind boggling low-hanging fruit you wonât pick. I think the happiness of your existing triathletes will far outweigh possible criticism for not being the best at running and swimming. We could at least show our triathlon friends that the run (and swim?) show up in TR, that will sell you some subscriptions and allow developing the fantastic feature sooner.
Whatâs the minimum amount of running everyone would want to see? To me, it seems like such a huge project.
Just recording Strava/garmin runs as a run works for me. Even if just distance and time with nothing else and linked to planned run in calender
Like no rTSS, checking off calendar workouts, intervals, map, ability to see your run graph? Synced to mobile, desktop and web?
Ideally check off calendar workout but not worried about any of other stuff you said initially.
For me, the minimum would be to show completed runs and include graph showing time, distance, pace and heart rate (similar to outdoor rides). Without this info I still have to go find it somewhere else (for me thatâs Garmin Connect or TrainingPeaks).
A map would be nice, but definitely not necessary. All the other stuff (rTSS, hrTSS, run cadence, custom run workouts, etc.) could come later.
If TR decides to put this off because they want âto be better than everyone elseâ, I can understand that position and appreciate the honesty. It is pretty cool that you guys read these forums and comment. That level of support and engagement has kept me here and subscribed to TR.
