Yahoo! Thanks TR team!
Bunch of my runs came over nicely from Garmin Connect
Seems with HR and Stryd data I have here it should be able to do an automatic TSS estimate? Any way to do this yet or is this not implemented?
TSS estimates based on HR or Power are not in place at the moment. Run TSS is something weâre closely monitoring though and actively discussing
Quick related question! (And not to appear in any way ungrateful, Iâm delighted with the big step of getting the runs up .)
Currently if you complete a triathlon the whole event is dragged in as though were a cycle. When the swim and run are eventually auto-imported, will the system be able to separate out this event into itâs component sports (like Garmin, Strava or TP)? Might need to account for transitions!
The current system ends up with TSS being estimated at less than half what it should be.
I guess it does not work for walking as I enabled the sync yesterday in settings. Did a walk this morning and nothing coming over to the calendar.
Thatâs correct. Currently this new feature only adds the ability to import runs into TrainerRoad.

And I just typed in three runs manually like a CHUMP.
but you still need to enter or update tss. At least it is almost there.
I enabled the feature and my runs are not uploading, do I have to do anything else for this to work? Iâm assuming that they are uploading from Strava like my rides?
Welcome to TrainerRoad, @Bentriathlete!!
I had a peek at your Calendar, and it looks like yesterdayâs run synced across to TrainerRoad, from Strava! The article below should tell you everything you need to know about how to sync or import runs into TrainerRoad. If you have questions that are not answered by that article, shoot them this way!
I followed these steps. The run/hike I did today was not automatically imported from Strava even though itâs setup via early access feature.
When I manually add the activity via upload (as show using the link above), it assumes itâs a ride and I cannot change this.
Help, please.
Now that you can do Runs why not also do swims.
With runs being rolled out, I assume that the swim activities are just one âctrl+C, ctrl+Vâ away now, right? Right?
Every sport has totally different metrics/splits/data that needs to be ingested, processed and then displayed for analysis. You canât copy/paste something like running which uses GPS, ground-pace, power, continuous intervals etc and hope it will produce anything useful for swimming.
Pool swimming vs open water swimming are totally different set of metrics and data too, so these on their own need 2 different analysis visuals. Pool swimming for example uses a lap press to initiate a rest specific interval, unlike open water swimming where a lap will just trigger the next interval just like running or riding does.
Software and data is complicated people!
Sorry, I should have indicated my sarcasm, I know itâs not just copy paste. Sometimes Iâm not very good at communicating over the internet.
However, I would still like to keep this on TRs radar, even with bigger fish to fry (ie Workout Levels V2). Maybe with Jonathan being a triathlete now this will get a bit of an extra push.
Imo open water swimming metrics are fantasy. I chuckle inside when people tell me their race course was short based on their wrist watch.
TR should focus on pool swimming, and distance. Because even in a pool itâs a bit of a mess. The only org âgetting it rightâ imo is swim.com and thatâs only because they show you how crap the data is when you upload it. Then you have to manually edit every swim to correct all the errorsâŚnightmare.
Then thereâs swimming with a pull buoyâŚ
Itâs ironic that pool swimming is the most controlled environment, generated the structured training approach that TR was founded on, and is yet the hardest to measure.
I would be happy it if all TR did was import my swims and show distance, time and splits. That would save me the time from manually entering it. It doesnât take a lot of time, but I always forget and end up having to fill in weeks of swims at once.
Swimming is such a different sport than biking or running (coming at it from a triathlete perspective). It is very technique based and, therefore, very hard to âmeasureâ. You can measure things like distance per stroke or stroke rate, but they arenât very actionable post swim. I would argue most things we measure, like the cycling dynamics measurements I have been recording with my power meter pedals, arenât actionable either.
Especially since theyâre doing âadaptiveâ training on their tri plans where if you donât do a swim it adjusts the other ones.
So if you forget to mark one as done it makes the progression levels done.
+1 for swim integration

Is there any way to push swim and run workouts to Garmin watch so you donât need to manually create a workout in Garmin Connect?
Donât think so, but many of them have the same structure, so after youâve created a few it becomes faster if you use the Garmin Connect website (not the mobile app), make a copy of similar workout and then adjiust the number of intervals.
I havenât found a way to do random interals for the 1 minute Fartlek-style run workouts, so I usually set 1 minute on / 1 minute off regular intervals. Anyone tried this CIQ app ? Connect IQ Store | Free Watch Faces and Apps | Garmin
