Any game FROM software makes will be impossible to play while riding. You need high levels of concentration.
Coach Chad could do it.
I started playing Prey recently. It’s not a new game, 2017, but rather good one. Actually, I don’t have much time for big games, so I more often play quick games. My work and training occupy almost all time, so all I have enough energy for is half an hour of playing in the evening.
I used to play games a lot as a teenager but have since then not really got into them until recently when the Switch became available. For me, the ease of just picking it up and playing for either 5 mins or 50mins is the real gamechanger for what I convince myself as I am a busy adult ![]()
Games I am enjoying currently:
- Hades - this is an amazing indie rougelike game. This is on sale right now.
- Super Smash Bros
- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary.
- Mario Odyssey.
Id like to think turnbased stuff would be best
So Civ was mentioned but maybe xcom, mario rabbids, puzzle type games, etc
Like you I played a decent amount of computer games in my teens in early 20’s. I bought a PS4 a couple years ago thinking I’d get back into playing. But some of the games are so time intensive and complicated it’s hard to just pick it up and play for a few minutes once or twice a week. I got Lego Star Wars which has helped since it’s a pretty easy game to figure out and play (and has a low cognitive load). But I’m thinking I’d probably be better off with a switch
Before I really got in to indoor cycling and learned about TR or Zwift or anything I’d play Call of Duty. I’d ride easy/moderate while I was alive and then go all out while waiting to respawn. It’s hard to play while on the bike so I died… A LOT.
I was probably doing sets of 15s sprints without knowing it. Obviously I don’t do this anymore and get much more from TR rides, but it did make time go fast
cant do it while i ride. but i just started on iracing and its so sick.
I think TFT is pretty good too.
It’s a bit hard when discovering it, but once you got the basic knowledge it’s fun.
But I agree games like Civilization, Endless space 2 are perfect.
Bale would do a great Hunter in a movie adaptation of the game!
I was also surprised how poor the Xbox was in terms of its interface, updates, and general usability.
The Switch is so much better in this sense, especially for the gramp gamers here ![]()
Video games…the only thing that takes my mind off of work…
Best game in last year…Elden Ring. If you like to fail a lot and die…it is the perfect game.
Latest game to finsh…ie today …was Far Cry New Dawn…nice cheap game on boxing day…
Now just need to finish God of War .
Witcher 3 Wild Hunt…quite simply the best - that said not sure how you could play it on the turbo…mind you if I had trained for the 120 hours I sunk into this game I would be fitter than I am!
Here some of my fav one:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Grand Theft Auto V
- The Last of Us Part II
- Super Mario Odyssey
- God of War (2018)
- Minecraft
- Overwatch
- Dark Souls series
Also from time to time I can play online games like dota 2 ,LOL . So would be lovely to play with u guys sometimes!
The only thing I’ve really tried is Civ6. It’s turn based so you can just stop interacting with it and it is effectively paused until you do something else. Great for endurance rides but still feasible for some intervals too. It’s just another way to occupy my mind and doing “one more turn” helps me stay on the trainer longer without destroying my evening by doing “one more turn” while sitting in front of the computer until late.
Just got the new Zelda but I haven’t messed with the switch on the trainer yet, two laptops on the cycling desk is my general setup.
Does anyone use a switch on the trainer? Is that a thing?
I watch my daughter play video games while I ride, but can’t do it myself. Even just watching, nothing screws up my cadence better than mariokart.
I personally think that the switch remotes are the best form factor for a controller on the trainer since they are small and you can hold in one hand or both hands. I played almost all of pokemon shield on the trainer.
I play diablo 4 on my steam deck while on the trainer lol
