Wahoo Bolt Ride Not Syncing?

After unpair of bolt in app and forgetting phone on bolt then a BT connection remains in the phone’s settings - Bluetooth. In there you can forget the device if you press the i next to the connection

Am assuming you are on iPhone so apologies if you’re not - not sure how to do on Android but assume very similar

I’ve found that it this extra forget device under BT is skipped then still get problems

The exact thing happened on my Roam a few days ago after an outside ride. Only partially uploaded to the companion app. I tried unpairing the phone numerous times and nothing worked until I deleted the companion app and then re-downloaded it.
After re-installing the app the outside ride re-synced with all the previously missing data.

So I had contacted Wahoo support about my issue before I had fixed it myself and apparently there is a procedure on the app to delete and re-sync a ride that I was not aware of. Not sure if it would have fixed my issue since I never got a chance to try but here it is in case it’s of any help:

"If you encounter an issue with syncing again on a future ride, then you can follow these steps to re-sync the ride:

  1. Turn on your ROAM and open the ELEMNT app
  2. In the ELEMNT app, navigate to the History screen and scroll to the ride in question
  3. Press and hold the ride until options pop up. Select “Delete & Resync”

This will cue the ROAM to re-send the ride information from your ROAM to the ELEMNT app."

I used my Roam for the first time today, absolutely flawless. Routing easy to read and idiot proof operation.

4 hr plus ride which used 20% of the battery and Synced before I got my kit sorted.

Oh and the power is much easier to regulate whilst riding outside compared to my Garmin 800.

Got a new firmware update this morning and had trouble with the companion app “talking“ to the Bolt. It kept dropping the BT connection and then would connect again after I force quit the app and reloaded it.

My solution was to unpair the phone and go through the pairing again. After doing that, the connection would stay. :man_shrugging:

My Bolt is not syncing via Wifi. I have to go through the app. Wifi sync used to work for years but is broken for weeks now.

Contacted Wahoo, the told me it is a known issue and they had opened a ticket with their development team. This has been quite a while ago.

My Bolt used to work flawlessly for years, since this year I have only trouble with it. Several issues with new firmware updates, they must have messed up something somwhere big time. Sad, I moved away from Garmin because of all the Software issues. But now it is the same with Wahoo. And no real alternatives out there.

Same issue here. Not automatically uploading to strava via my home wifi, so have to open the ios app and do it that way

Late to this party but same issues for about a month now. Elemnt Bolt USUALLY syncs to Wahoo Companion app but not to ANY 3rd-party apps - Ride with GPS, Strava, TR, etc. Have to do it manually after each ride. Firmware updates haven’t solved the issue.

By ‘usually’ I mean another intermittent issue --Bluetooth connection between Elemnt and Companion app is spotty and often doesn’t last long enough to sync a ride to CA.

Obviously Wahoo has dropped the ball here. A real pity because software was its only selling point over Garmin. “It just doesn’t work anymore.”

My Bolt has been working well for a few weeks. Haven’t synced any TR or TP workouts in a while though. There is an update sitting there that I haven’t done. I’m afraid to do it for the fear that it will screw something up. Wahoo sucks. Garmin sucks. The market is ripe for any decent alternative.

I’ve been dealing with seemingly the same issues the last few weeks. Had the bolt a year or so and have been really happy until very recently. I went through today and unpaired it from my phone and re-paired it and I think it seems to be working now. I’m on the latest software. Tomorrow will be a good test to see if it’s good again.

I still cant get it to automatically sync to strava and I no longer can receive text messages on the device. Calls I can get. I’ve tried disconnecting everything, deleting the phone on the device, etc and reconnecting and it still hasn’t fixed it.

Have y’all submitted a ticket to wahoo about these issues? I have been putting them in but it would be interesting to see if their reaction changes if they are getting inundated with tickets around the iOS notifications and ride sync not working.

Ok - so today’s ride had the same issues with the bolt connecting/disconnecting to my iPhone every 30 seconds or so. The strava upload worked fine but no phone notifications on the head unit. I submitted a support ticket and if I get a fix i’ll report back.

The recent FW update seemed to break my syncing as well. It was working great for a month but now I also experience connect/disconnects

Another thing I’ve just noticed - besides the non-wifi-syncing issue - battery life: I have a 12h race scheduled for early August. This has never been an issue with my Bolt. However, over the last few weeks I noticed that battery life has worsened quite significantly. One charge would last for 13-15h, even with my older model. This has come down to about 9-10 hours. Suddenly. Perhaps they have introduced another bug on this as well. I had this with a Garmin in the past.

I can only repeat myself: the have messed up this really good device big, big time.

Yep, also observed battery drain after last update.

Have you ever managed to resolve this as my Elemnt has been doing this the past few weeks and it’s driving me nuts.

I posted yesterday on this after tolerating all of the issues mentioned here for at least a month. Wahoo customer support has always been terrific at replacing shoddy hardware (production consistency a real issue) which I’ve tolerated for presumably superior software. Am still under warranty on a Bolt bundle and think it’s time to return to Garmin. In five months riding wahoo I’ve spent more time dcking around with this issue AND replacing hardware than five years under the Garmin regime. Anyone else similarly exasperated? Seems like the private equity infusion into Wahoo led to absolute quality deterioration.

Bummed for you IOS guys, sounds like a drag. Since the update a couple weeks ago, my Bolt has been back to it"s old flawless self on Android.
