I first read that as 4:38 per mile and near shat myself.
Then I realized it was per km, which is still really good (way faster than me).

Yeah, maybe next NYD!
The road bike is on the trainer now. It’s XCM training time!
I had no idea where I was going and got lost in the mountains.
Antelope? If only I was able to push Sweet Spot without doing 10rpm and falling over.
It was a little too steep.
Edit: I nailed the first interval (sort of). Gotta love all the water bars.
I don’t know if I can still call my current block “GBMV” with all the failures and interruptions I’ve thrown into it, but I’m almost to the end! My brain sits right on the edge between “you’re fine” and “ok start panicking” with work like this. Picked up a route badge at the end after I forgot to extend the cooldown another five minutes.
The last week of work before the festive period, and of course the festive period itself, has afforded me more time. Rather than kick off the next phase of my plan I decided to do a couple of weeks of z2 to a) get the Rapha 500 sorted and b) spend some time not smashing my self into a wall…just yet
Penultimate ride of this z2 block was Polar Bear -3
Leavitt +2 harder than expected !
This felt ‘just right’ in terms of difficulty - spent the rest valleys with my fan and music off + aiming for a higher cadence. I’m aiming to fuel workouts like this better - although I felt like I could have gotten through without anything, a gel at 48 minutes was a good decision.
Juneau -1 today. Wanted to go out but weather has been close to freezing for days on end now. Legs felt pretty decent today, so decided to do 20’ @ ~96% instead of the final 2x9’ set. Max HR ~10bpm below threshold. Also, it’s a 20’ turbo PB effort
Failed this in September and again 12/22. After 12/22 failure, I pushed plan a week, logged Festive 500 miles and got back on schedule this week. Felt good to nail it today. Gives me some confidence going into Mary Austin and Leconte in coming weeks.
After adding additional volume to SSBMV1 and first half of MV2, I’m probably going to dial that back and just focus on nailing the Rx’d workouts.
No ride today, but threw down a low Zone 2 15km Run.
Leconte. Last hard workout of SSB2. Subbing out long ride tomorrow. First time I’ve nailed it. This is my 4th time doing it.
Dardanelles -2 for me tonight. Annoyingly I back to my poor pacing, giving in too early and toggling off ERG, but having too much in the tank at the end
I needed to spin the legs after yesterday’s mountain adventure. It was supposed to be a rest day so I picked this.
My thrashed legs feel much better after that.
St. Elias, week 5 of SPBHV
Spent the warmup with my sweat towel round my shoulders, eyeing up a gilet just out of reach, thinking I’d overcooked the cooling (amazing what an open door will do when it’s - 1°C!) but so glad I had by the middle intervals…
Tough but reassuringly manageable, definitely back on the horse for the new year!
4x20 at 90%, HR stayed at or below 160, a sign of good things. Still two more weeks of SSB2 HV so it’ll just get better
smashing through the rain with one brake wanted to go hour by hour at 315 315 320 320 but the whole skerp skerp wasn’t helping. fun route tho!
